No. 25 Softball Drops Finale to No. 10 Arkansas
3/9/2025 | Softball
OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 25 Ole Miss softball program dropped the finale of the three-game series against No. 10 Arkansas, 20-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium.
Lair Beautae led the Rebels (20-4, 2-1 SEC) with a home run and two RBI, but the Razorbacks (20-3, 1-2 SEC) pulled ahead early five runs in the opening frame. Despite the loss, the Rebels earned an SEC series win over a top-10 opponent for the third time in their last four attempts, dating back to 2024.
The Razorbacks began the day quickly, scoring five runs in the opening inning. The Rebels looked to mount a response in the bottom half of the first inning, as walks by Taylor Malvin and Beautae, as well as a single by Persy Llamas loaded the bases with one out. Lexie Brady continued her big week with another RBI in the next at-bat, drawing a walk to make it 5-1.
The Rebels held Arkansas in check for the second inning, but could not chip away before the Razorbacks extended the lead in the third inning with three more runs. Seeking an answer, Malvin repeated her efforts from the first inning, drawing a walk to set up Beautae. The Riverside, Calif., native laced her first home run as a Rebel, cutting the lead to 8-3.
However, that would be as close as the Rebels could get, as Arkansas surged for seven runs in the fourth inning. Addison Duke and Star Ferguson each singled in the fifth inning to give the Rebels some life, but were ultimately stranded on the base paths.
Ole Miss is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Western Kentucky for a 5 p.m. CT clash. The game will be streamed via ESPN Plus.
