No. 25 Softball Surges Past No. 10 Arkansas, 9-3

3/8/2025 | Softball

OXFORD, Miss. – Behind another standout offensive performance, the No. 25 Ole Miss softball program earned an SEC series win, defeating No. 10 Arkansas, 9-3 in game two of the three-game series on Saturday night at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium.

Lexie Brady led the Rebels (20-3, 2-0 SEC), going 3-for-3 with a home run, triple, a walk and an RBI. Aliyah Binford earned her fourth win of the season, striking out seven Razorbacks (19-3, 0-2 SEC) over a complete seven innings.

Following the win on Friday, the Rebels had to face early adversity as the Razorbacks started quickly in the first. An RBI single by Bri Ellis put the Razorbacks up 1-0, but Binford was able to work out of further trouble, drawing two groundouts to strand more baserunners.

The Rebel offense clicked in the second inning and would never look back, retaking the lead for good. Three straight singles by Brady, Mackenzie Pickens and Tenly Grisham set up Jaden Pone, who laced a double over the head of the center fielder and into left center field, scoring two for a 2-1 lead.

A throwing error allowed another run to come home, before a two RBI single by Binford capped off a five-run inning, putting the Rebels ahead 5-1.

Arkansas attempted to respond, getting the bases loaded in the third inning, but Binford stood tall and kept the lead intact. Immediately following the strong pitching, Brady picked up her pitcher, blasting a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning for a 6-1 lead. For Brady, it marked her sixth home run in her last nine games.

The Rebels extended the lead even further in the fourth inning, as Pone and Taylor Malvin walked and Lair Beautae singled to load the bases with no outs. Another RBI single by Binford and a sacrifice fly by Persy Llamas made it 8-1. For good measure, the Rebels reloaded the bases and Pickens added another run with an RBI single to make it 9-1.

A solo home run by Arkansas’ Ellis extended the game and prevented a second straight run rule win in SEC play. However, Binford continued to navigate the rainy evening and keep the high-powered Razorbacks at bay, doing enough to secure the win in seven innings.

Ole Miss returns to action for the finale against No. 10 Arkansas on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CT. The game will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
