GENERAL NOTES
- This game marked the kickoff of the 116th season of football at Ole Miss and the third under head coach Houston Nutt. The Rebels boast an all-time record of 615-469-35.
- Ole Miss is now 85-25-5 in season openers and 58-5-3 in season openers at home. They have won 13 of the last 14 season openers.
- This is Ole Miss' first loss to an FCS opponent since the NCAA went to the current format.
- The Rebels are now 6-6 all-time in overtime games. This was the first overtime game since a 2006 loss (20-23) at LSU.
- Houston Nutt is now 8-3 in overtime games in his career, 0-1 at Ole Miss.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- Brandon Bolden registered his third career 100-yard rushing game, with 104 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown.
- Sophomore Melvin Harris recorded his first career touchdown, a 41-yard pass from Nathan Stanley on the third play of the game.
- Nathan Stanley's 41-yard TD pass to Melvin Harris is the longest play of his career.
- Nathan Stanley finished 6-of-10 for 133 yards and 3 TDs.
- Sophomore Jesse Grandy nabbed his first career receiving touchdown, a 31-yard pass from Nathan Stanley.
- Jeremiah Masoli made his debut for the Rebels at the 2:13 mark of the first quarter.
- Masoli's first pass as a Rebel was a 10-yard strike to tight end Ferbia Allen. He finished 7-of-10 for 109 yards.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- Junior college transfer Damien Jackson led the Rebels with 11 tackles.
- Johnny Brown had 10 tackles, marking the first time since the 2009 Mississippi State game for two Rebels to post double-digit tackles.
- Sophomore D.T. Shackelford registered his first career sack, sacking JSU QB Marques Ivory for loss of nine yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- Sophomore Bryson Rose connected on his first career field goal, from 24-yards away in the 2nd quarter. He added a 35-yarder with 2:55 to go in the 4th quarter. He was also 6-for-6 on PAT attempts.
- Freshman Jeff Scott had two kickoff returns for a total of 68 yards with a long of 40.
