Football’s Chambliss Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Leading Ole Miss to victory over No. 7 LSU in one of the nation's premiere games of the weekend this past Saturday, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was selected as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Leading the offense with a passing attack that now ranks eighth in the nation, Chambliss threw for 363 yards with three total touchdowns, completing a career-high 33 passes to help the Rebels defend Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in front of a record crowd.
Leading 10-0, Chambliss found Traylon Ray for a 21-yard score to make it 17-0 midway through the second quarter. With less than two minutes before halftime, the quarterback marched down the field and found Deuce Alexander in the middle of the endzone, setting the score at 24-7 at the break.
Following an LSU comeback to even the score at 24-24, Chambliss brought the offense down the field before flying out wide to the left, scoring his second rushing touchdown of the season and making it 32-24 following a two-point conversion.
Chambliss now leads the SEC and ranks sixth in the country with an average of 308.0 yards through the air per game this season, leading the conference in completions per game as well at 25.7.
Recently elevated to No. 4 in the AP Poll, the Rebels will head south to take on No. 21 Florida in Gainesville next on Saturday, September 26 at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
