A First-Time Matchup

This game will mark the first-ever meeting between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Charlotte 49ers on the football field. Charlotte enters the matchup following a triple-overtime loss to The Citadel in its season opener. Ole Miss enters the game with a 98-45-3 all-time record against American Conference opponents.

Earning SEC Weekly Honors

Ole Miss had two players earn SEC Player of the Week honors following its season-opening win over the Louisville Cardinals. Wide Receiver Deuce Alexander was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week after recording five catches for a career-high 159 receiving yards. Kicker Lucas Carneiro earned Co-Special Teams Player of the Week honors after going 2 for 3 on field goal attempts, including the game-winning 48-yard field goal.

Home-Field Advantage

Ole Miss has won 13 of its last 14 home openers and enters the matchup riding a 12-game home winning streak, the third-longest active streak in the FBS. The Rebels are 107-18-5 all-time in home openers.

Clutch Kicks

Kicker Lucas Carneiro has made three career game-winning field goals of more than 45 yards in the final 15 seconds of regulation, including two with the Rebels. One of those came during the 2025 Sugar Bowl, when Carneiro connected on a game-winning 47-yard field goal to send Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff Semifinals.

Rising Against Ranked Opponents

Following Sunday's victory over No.24 Louisville, Ole Miss owns the nation's only win over a ranked opponent so far in the 2026 season. The Rebels have now defeated a Top 25 opponent in three of their last four games.
