99th Homecoming Celebration
Ole Miss will celebrate its 99th Homecoming game this Saturday as the Rebels host Missouri. Since beginning the tradition in 1924, Ole Miss has compiled a 79-17-2 all-time record in Homecoming matchups. The Rebels have won 25 of their last 29 Homecoming games and will look to continue that success against the Tigers. Saturday's contest will mark the first time Ole Miss and Missouri have faced each other in a Homecoming game.
Missouri Matchup History
Saturday's matchup will mark just the ninth meeting between Ole Miss and Missouri and only the third since the Tigers joined the SEC. Missouri holds a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series, with the Rebels' lone victory coming in 1974. The two programs first met in Columbia in 1973 and have not faced each other in Oxford since 2013. Missouri enters Saturday's contest with a 2-0 record in games played in Oxford.
Former Rebels Return
Former Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons and wide receiver Cayden Lee will return to Oxford this Saturday, this time wearing Missouri uniforms. Simmons leads the Tigers' offense with 1,434 passing yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Lee has also emerged as a key contributor for Missouri, leading the Tigers' receiving corps with 616 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Defensive Dominance
The Ole Miss defense turned in one of its strongest performances of the season against Vanderbilt, forcing a season-high four turnovers. The Rebels recorded two fumble recoveries and two interceptions while adding three sacks, eight tackles for loss and four quarterback hurries. Blake Purchase, Suntarine Perkins, Nick Cull and Antonio Kite were among the defensive standouts who helped lead the effort.
