Men’s Tennis Drops Regular Season Finale Against No. 11 Mississippi State

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis fell to Mississippi State, 5-2, at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center in a Friday evening matchup to round out the Rebels' regular season.
The Rebels 12-13 (2-12 SEC) fought hard against the Bulldogs (20-4, 10-3 SEC), but Ole Miss was unable to complete the comeback and dropped the match to their in-state foe.
The Rebels went to work on the doubles court. Loan Lestir and Benjamin Martin captured a big 6-3 win on court two over Mississippi State's No. 63 ranked duo of Mario Martinez Serrano and Niccolo Baroni.
Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn kept it close on court one against the No. 2 ranked pair, but the Rebel duo ultimately dropped their match, 7-5, despite the hard fought battle.
Milburn got things rolling for the Rebels in singles on court six. The freshman notched a dominant 6-1, 6-4 win over Robert Ferrer Guimaraes on court six to earn Ole Miss its first point of the day. This win tallied the Queenstown, New Zealand, native's seventh singles victory of his freshman campaign.
On court four, Chambonniere stayed patient and earned an impressive 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) win over Mississippi State's student athlete to tally the Rebels' second point of the day. This win marked Chambonniere's 22nd career singles win in his freshman campaign.
Ole Miss will be back in action next week as they hit the road to Columbia, South Carolina to compete in the SEC Championships, set to run from April 16-20.
