4/16/2025 | Men's Tennis
COLUMBIA, S.C. - In the opening round of the SEC Championship, 14th-seeded Ole Miss men's tennis fell to 11th-seeded Arkansas on Wednesday evening in Columbia S.C.
The Rebels (12-14, 2-12 SEC) came out hot and secured a dominant doubles point but fell short in singles, dropping the match to the Razorbacks (18-13, 4-10 SEC) to conclude Ole Miss' time in the Palmetto State.
The dynamic duo of Loan Lestir and Benjamin Martin secured a dominant 6-2 win over Arkansas' Bozo Barun and Benni Emesz on court two to earn the Rebels' first doubles win of the day.
No. 64 Kai Milburn and Isac Strömberg captured a 6-3 win over Arkansas' 24th-ranked duo on court one to clinch the doubles point for Ole Miss. This win marked the pair's seventh victory of the season and fifth ranked win together.
Matthieu Chambonniere stayed patient and secured a straight set 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 win over his opponent to earn his 24th singles win of the season. The Paris, France, native boasts a 24-7 overall season record on the singles courts which is a 77% victory rate, marking the most successful freshman campaign since current Ole Miss assistant coach Kalle Norberg, who won 88% of his singles matches. After tonight's victory, Chambonniere now ties Adrian Forberg Skogeng with the most wins by a freshman (24) in the last 15 seasons.
