OXFORD, Miss. - Coming off a 43-21 homecoming win over the University of Louisiana, Ole Miss heads to Knoxville, Tenn., for the first of two straight conference road games.
Game time is 11 a.m. CT at Neyland Stadium. It will be televised on CBS.
Ole Miss (4-5, 1-4 Southeastern Conference) and Tennessee (3-6, 0-5) are both looking for a critical win to move toward becoming bowl eligible.
"Tennessee plays hard every game," Rebel head coach Houston Nutt said. "I think it's no secret that they're a lot like us. There are still bowl possibilities for both teams. There is a lot to play for. It's about how you finish in November. We will have their best, there is no doubt in my mind, and we are going to give them our best."
The Rebels will carry the momentum that they gained at home against the Ragin' Cajuns, especially on the ground, into Volunteer country. In their homecoming win, Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis both rushed for more than 100 yards as Ole Miss recorded 298 total yards on the ground. As a team, the Rebels racked up 478 yards of total offense and allowed just 215 to Louisiana.
Ole Miss has had three players rush for 100 yards or more in the past two games. The Rebels' running attack ranks second in the SEC with 221.6 yards per game.
Some of the credit goes to an offensive line that continues to improve, led by sophomore right tackle Bobby Massie, who was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week on Monday. The offensive line has allowed a league-best seven sacks this year, while the Rebels' defense ranks third in the league with 2.78 sacks per outing.
November has been a good month for Ole Miss since Nutt's arrival. In the last three years, the Rebels are 8-1 in that month, including 4-0 in 2008, 3-1 last year and 1-0 so far this season.
In its first year under head coach Derek Dooley, Tennessee snapped a four-game skid with Saturday's 50-14 win at Memphis. The Vols are led by junior running back Tauren Poole, who has piled up 729 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.
Tennessee leads the all-time series 43-19-1, including a 24-5 edge in Knoxville. Ole Miss snapped a 12-game losing streak to the Vols with last year's 42-17 triumph in Oxford. The last Rebel win in Knoxville was a 13-10 victory in 1983.
