Football vs. Louisville: Fresh off the Field

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 9 Ole Miss football team pulled off the walk off win in the opener Sunday night, defeating No. 24 Louisville, 41-38, at Nissan Stadium in the Music City Kickoff game. The Rebels are now 98-29-5 (.764) in season openers and have taken 25 of the last 30 on the field.
Ole Miss overcame adversity in the win, coming back from a 13-10 deficit early in the third quarter. The Ole Miss offense turned it on after that, scoring 31 points the remainder of the game with Chambliss accounting for all four touchdowns in the thrilling win.

"What an unbelievable atmosphere, that's really good for college football with an opening neutral site." Golding said. "Two top-25 opponents, we talked all week to our team that this is going to be like a playoff game. Louisville is really well coached with really good players. They had beaten the team that last beat us in the semifinals. Definitely weren't overlooked coming in, and I think in today's day and age in college football you assemble a really good team on paper, then you go out and do scrimmages and fall camp, then you get these opportunities to go play and figure out what you got."
CHAMBLISS STARTS STRONG
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss finished the day with 336 passing yards for his ninth career 300-yard passing game at Ole Miss, ranking him seventh in school history just behind Eli Manning's 10.
"My team has all the trust in me." Chambliss said. "They believe that I'm a really good quarterback and that I will have mistakes sometimes but I'm human. I'm not perfect and they understand that. They understand that I'm not trying to make those mistakes and if something happens and it doesn't go our way we aren't even thinking about it. It's our next play mentality."
Chambliss has now thrown and rushed for a touchdown in the same game six times during his career.
"I feel like we responded well. Not a good start for us, not ideal the way we started but when you think about Ole Miss football and Ole Miss offense you think of a lot of points getting scored or a lot of fast starts to games which didn't happen today." Chambliss said. "When things didn't go our way, we didn't panic and that's what we did today."
DEUCE IS LOOSE
Making his first career start as a Rebel, Alexander delivered one of the biggest performances of the night. His 159 receiving yards came on two explosive touchdown receptions of 62 yards each, giving Ole Miss the big-play threat it needed throughout the second half.
"We put in a lot of work behind the scenes." Alexander said. "In the summer, spring and fall when no one was watching we were working and it all showed off tonight."
Wide Receiver Deuce Alexander's 159 receiving yards marks his first 100-yard game of his collegiate career, topping his previous best of 94 yards twice in 2025.
"The Offense is still brand new." Alexander said. "Being able to play together while learning each other and learning how Trinidad thinks and how everyone thinks on the sideline and being able to talk through things and handle adversity has helped us out."
