Volleyball Travels to Oklahoma for Allstate Big Ten/SEC Challenge

NORMAN, Okla. – The Ole Miss volleyball program hits the road for the first time in the regular season, competing in the 2026 Allstate Big Ten/SEC Challenge from Wednesday, Sept. 2 to Thursday, Sept. 3, in Norman, Okla.
The Rebels (2-1, 0-0 SEC) open the event with a Wednesday night matchup against Ohio State (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) at 5 p.m. CT, before facing Washington (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) the next day at 3 p.m. CT. All matches will be played in McCasland Field House on the campus of Oklahoma and will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.

SERIES HISTORY
The Rebels are set to face off against Ohio State for the third time in program history, with the two sides tied at 1-1 in the all-time ledger. The last meeting took place in Oxford, as the Rebels prevailed in a thrilling five-set win in 2018 over the Buckeyes.

LAST TIME OUT
After a 2-0 start to the Ole Miss Volleyball Invitational, the Rebels dropped the finale of the event, 3-1, to LMU on Sunday. Despite the loss, the Rebels tallied their best hitting percentage of the young season and Cameron Bradley set a career-high with 30 digs, becoming the first Rebel in two years to accomplish the feat. Shayla Meyer delivered another efficient performance on offense, notching 19 kills on .364 hitting, but the Rebels were unable to hold off a late push from the visitors.

Ole Miss libero Cameron Bradley had a season debut to remember, tallying an NCAA leading 78 digs over three matches on her way to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bradley bested her previous career-high in digs in all three matches, headlined by a 30-dig performance in the finale against LMU. Additionally, Bradley notched a career-best five assists on two occasions and led the team with six service aces to help pace the Rebels in two key wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Northern Arizona.
Bradley is in her first season as the starting libero following the graduation of all-time digs leader Cammy Niesen and has not missed a beat since stepping into the rotation. The Austin, Texas native also ranks second in the nation in digs per set with 6.00 and appears poised for a breakout campaign.
TIME TO CROOK
The Rebels made a big splash in the transfer portal entering this season, adding UAB opposite Jorda Crook to the program. A native of Ohatchee, Ala., Crook made her mark in three seasons as a Blazer, earning two All-AAC First Team honors and taking home five AAC Player of the Week awards, becoming the first UAB volleyball player to ever accomplish the feat.
Crook follows a growing path of impact transfers into the program. Head coach Bre Henry and her staff have developed 400-kill hitters in back-to-back seasons, with Crook entering the fold on the heels of 394 kills as a junior at UAB. Crook has registered 835 kills, 321 digs, 166.0 total blocks, and 49 aces over her career and adds a dynamic piece to the offensive attack.
NEXT GENERATION
Head coach Bre Henry and the Ole Miss volleyball program added five new freshmen to the program this season as the Rebels welcome Rileigh Butler, Jaidyn Hartsfield, Ryea Jackson, Coco Natarajan and Sophie Taylor to the team.
The group has earned several accolades in their careers. Natarajan and Jackson were both tabbed to the AVCA's Phenom Watch List, while Natarajan was named to AVCA All-American Watch List in 2025.
Four of the five additions to the class have come from the state of Texas, including three from the same volleyball club - MadFrog Volleyball Club. The Rebels have heavily scouted the Lone Star State, as Butler, Hartsfield, Jackson and Natarajan will join fellow Texans Cameron Bradley, Keirstyn Carlton, Nina Moorer and Carly Paugh in 2026.
Jackson will help anchor the middle of the court, while Hartsfield and Taylor join the fold as athletic pins. Butler will join Cameron Bradley and Bella Bonanno as liberos, while Natarajan will join Tenesyn Frye and Vivianna Samaniego in the setter room this season.
THE ROAD AHEAD
In addition to an already played scrimmage against Arkansas State, who reached the postseason last year, the Rebels are set to face seven teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament this season.
Additionally, that list does not include several quality opponents that the Rebels are slated to face throughout conference play, as well as clashes with power four sides Ohio State, Washington and Clemson and the recent victories over two 20-win programs from last season in Southeastern Louisiana and Northern Arizona.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Shayla Meyer enters her final collegiate season with eyes on the record books. Last season, Meyer moved into sole possession of ninth place in the rally scoring era in service aces and now has 74 in her career. Her 32 aces on the year marked Meyer's second straight season with 30 or more service aces.
A third-consecutive 30-ace season would be enough to allow Meyer to become just the second Rebel in the rally scoring era to tally 100 or more service aces and put pressure on becoming the all-time leader in the era.
Additionally, Meyer also has eyes on several longer-term milestones, including 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Meyer currently sits at 771 kills and 652 digs in her standout Rebel tenure.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
Despite a surprising opening loss to Bowling Green, the Ohio State Buckeyes enter the week at 2-1 after rallying to finish off the team's home tournament with wins over Fresno State and Northern Kentucky. Head coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg leads her alma mater in her seventh season at helm of the program.
On offense, the Buckeyes are off to a .237 hitting percentage to start the season, led in large part by senior Hannah Jones, who averaged 3.55 kills per set over the first week of the year. Senior setter Mia Tuman is a key part of the offensive attack with 10.55 assists per set, while the block has been important, with Jones and Alia Schoonover as key contributors.
After her first losing season at Washington in 2025, head coach Leslie Gabriel has the Huskies off to a great start in 2026, sweeping the opening weekend and going 3-0. Freshman Kylie Kleckner is off to a roaring start, tallying a team-high 41 kills over the weekend.
The Husky blockers are also off to a strong start, with second-year Maija Howse recording 18 total blocks over three matches to lead the group. Four Huskies have 10 or more blocks already and will be critical in stopping the dynamic Rebels attack.
