No. 17 Baseball Falls In Series Opener Against No. 22 Arkansas
5/1/2026 | Baseball
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 17 Ole Miss Baseball (31-16, 11-11 SEC) dropped its series opener in Fayetteville to No. 22 Arkansas (31-16, 12-10 SEC) by a score of 12-2 in seven innings.
The Rebels had just six hits in the game and scored two runs on solo home runs by Judd Utermark and Austin Fawley.
For Utermark it was the 47th of his career and he is now just one home run shy of the all-time career record.
Hunter Elliott gave up six earned runs on three home runs over just three innings of work. It was the first time in his career that he allowed three home runs in a game.
After a clean first inning from Elliott, the Razorbacks hit a home run in each of the second, third, and fourth innings. The first was a three-run shot by TJ Pompey, the second was a two-run home run by Camden Kozeal, and the third was a solo homer by Kuhio Aloy that made it 6-0.
Utermark got the Rebels on the board with his solo shot in the top of the sixth inning, but Arkansas responded with a five-run bottom of the inning to take a 11-1 lead.
Fawley hit his home run in the top of the seventh to give Ole Miss some life, but a double with a runner on base in the bottom of the seventh would walk things off for Arkansas.
The two teams will play game two of the series Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
