OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss volleyball program is set to open the final week of home volleyball in the 2026 season, hosting Oklahoma on Friday, for the first of two matches at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center this weekend.
The Rebels (8-14, 2-9 SEC) will match up against the Sooners (11-9, 4-7 SEC) at 3 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
RALLY POINTS
Despite a brief, four-match all-time series in which Oklahoma leads 3-1, the Rebels and Sooners have played back-to-back five setters since Oklahoma joined the SEC. In last season's matchup, the Rebels went into Norman and won for the first time in program history, behind 17 kills from Shayla Meyer and 22 digs from Cammy Niesen. The Rebels rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the match to secure the victory in that match. In 2024, both sides also played a five-setter in Oxford, that Oklahoma snared, 3-2.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite a furious third set comeback attempt, the Ole Miss volleyball program came up short, falling 3-0 to LSU on Sunday. Despite a solid .269 hitting performance from Shayla Meyer, who tallied seven kills, five digs and four blocks, the Rebels dropped a narrow 25-23 third set to halt a rally attempt. Coco Natarajan recorded a career-high 12 assists, while Bella Bonanno added 11 digs in the loss.
CAM CAN
Ole Miss libero Cameron Bradley had a season debut to remember, tallying an NCAA leading 78 digs over the first three matches of the season on her way to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bradley bested her previous career-high in digs in all three matches, headlined by a 30-dig performance in the finale against LMU.
Since that time, Bradley has gotten off to a sensational start to what has been a breakout campaign. Despite currently dealing with an injury, Bradley continues to lead the SEC and ranks 10th in the nation in digs per set with 4.93.
Bradley is in her first season as the starting libero following the graduation of all-time digs leader Cammy Niesen and has seamlessly stepped into the rotation. Bradley has also shined at the service line with 14 service aces this season.
TIME TO CROOK
The Rebels made a big splash in the transfer portal entering this season, adding UAB opposite Jorda Crook to the program. A native of Ohatchee, Ala., Crook made her mark in three seasons as a Blazer, earning two All-AAC First Team honors and taking home five AAC Player of the Week awards, becoming the first UAB volleyball player to ever accomplish the feat.
Crook follows a growing path of impact transfers into the program. Head coach Bre Henry and her staff have developed 400-kill hitters in back-to-back seasons, with Crook entering the fold on the heels of 394 kills as a junior at UAB.
Crook is off to a strong start to her Ole Miss tenure, tallying a team-high 229 kills, while also leading the team with 59.0 blocks and ranking second in with 18 service aces.
Crook made personal history against Missouri, reaching 1,000 kills in her decorated career and doing so in just 86 matches.
THE ROAD TO 1K
After senior opposite Jorda Crook earned her 1,000th collegiate kill in a home victory over Missouri on October 2, the Rebels have their eyes on more big milestones ahead of the meat of the SEC schedule.
Shayla Meyer is seeking to join Crook at 1,000 kills, standing at 938 in her collegiate career. The fifth year is unique in all have come as a Rebel and reaching the milestone would put Meyer into the top-10 all-time in the rally scoring era at Ole Miss. Setter Vivianna Samaniego is also chasing a personal milestone, standing 72 assists away from 1,000 assists.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Shayla Meyer enters her final collegiate season with eyes on the record books. After multiple service aces at No. 4 Kentucky, Meyer moved into a tie for third place in the rally scoring era in service aces and now has 86 in her career. Meyer is seeking to become the eighth Rebel to ever reach 100 service aces.
Her 32 aces in 2025 marked Meyer's second straight season with 30 or more service aces. A third-consecutive 30-ace season would be enough to allow Meyer to become just the second Rebel in the rally scoring era to tally 100 or more service aces and put pressure on becoming the all-time leader in the era.
Additionally, Meyer also has eyes on several longer-term milestones, including 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Meyer currently sits at 938 kills and 763 digs in her standout Rebel tenure.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA
After a roaring start to the season, including in SEC play, where the Sooners recorded wins over Texas A&M and Texas, Oklahoma finds itself in a skid entering play this weekend at 11-9 and 4-7 in the SEC. Head coach Aaron Mansfield is seeking to stop the slide in which the Sooners have lost five of its last six matches.
When right, the Sooners have a diverse offensive attack, led by three arms in Tekoa Barnes, Alyssa Flack and Alaleh Tolliver, who each have over 200 kills on the season. Avaya Maga does the setting for the program, averaging 11.45 assists per set, en route to a team average of .257 hitting. The issues have largely arisen defensively, as the Sooners average just 1.59 blocks per set and 12.22 digs per set. In four of the five losses over the last six, the Sooners have allowed over .300 hitting, while errors have piled up, with double digit totals in service errors and receiving errors at Auburn last weekend.
