6/10/2025 | Baseball
OXFORD, Miss. – The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams were announced Tuesday morning, and five Rebels were named to the All-South Region Team, the most since 2021.
Mitchell Sanford and Connor Spencer were both named to the First Team while Austin Fawley, Hunter Elliott, and Mason Morris were named to the Second Team. Sanford and Spencer are the first Rebels to be named to the First Team since Jacob Gonzalez and Kemp Alderman in 2023.
Sanford was the only Rebel to start all 64 games and was one of two to play in every game this season. He hit .317 and set new career highs in home runs (17), runs scored (66), and walks drawn (39). He led the Rebels in total bases, runs scored, and multi-hit games. He also finished second in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, and stolen bases. Sanford's 66 runs scored and 151 total bases were the seventh-most in the SEC.
Spencer posted a 1.82 ERA with eight saves over 21 appearances on the season. He allowed just five earned runs and held opponents to a .197 batting average. The senior picked up four saves during the Rebels' postseason run including three in the first three games of the SEC Tournament. His 15 career saves over two seasons at Ole Miss are the 10th most all-time.
Elliott became the fifth pitcher in Ole Miss history to record a 10-win, 100-strikeout season finishing 2025 with a 10-3 record and 102 punchouts. He also became just the fourth pitcher in program history to record 100+ strikeouts in two different seasons. His 2.94 ERA was the lowest by a Rebel starting pitcher since his freshman season when he finished with an ERA of 2.70. He held opponents to a .197 batting average and gave up just four home runs over 85.2 innings of work.
Fawley became the first catcher in Ole Miss history to hit 20+ home runs, finishing the season with 21. He is also now just one of six Rebels in program history to hit 20+ home runs in a season. He led the team in slugging percentage at .648 and did not commit an error behind the plate all season.
Morris was the Rebels' primary long relief option out of the bullpen all season, posting a 5-1 record with a 3.29 ERA and 78 strikeouts over 54.2 innings of work. He finished second on the team in strikeouts and third in wins despite not starting a single game all season. He set new career highs in all categories after pitching in just 40.2 innings combined over his first two seasons.
