NFL Rebels Update: Week 17

OXFORD, Miss. – Here at OleMissSports.com, we are proud to update Rebel fans on the status of our former players who lace up their cleats on Sundays in the NFL.

Eighteen former Rebels saw action in Week 17. Rookie defensive end Cedric Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals recorded his first career sack, one of two solo tackles in a thrilling 30-24 win in overtime over the Denver Broncos. In the same game, Broncos defensive tackle DJ Jones came up with three tackles, half a sack and a quarterback hit in the loss. Pittsburgh Steeler Mark Robinson has been making an impact on special teams, with his second consecutive week forcing a fumble for that unit. Green Bay Packers receiver Malik Heath also came up big for his team, hauling in his second touchdown catch of the year in the fourth quarter of a narrow 27-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Played 15 special teams snaps, recording one tackle, in a 30-24 win over the Denver Broncos.

#64 Nick Broeker | OT | Houston Texans
Played six snaps in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

#11 A.J. Brown | WR | Philadelphia Eagles
Started at wide receiver, catching three passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in a dominant 41-7 win over the divisional rival Dallas Cowboys. Brown’s 16.1 yards per reception continues to rank highest in the league among receivers with 50-plus catches.

#77 Ben Brown | OL | New England Patriots
Was not active in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

#30 AJ Finley | S | Seattle Seahawks
Played 12 special teams snaps in a win over the Chicago Bears.

#18 Malik Heath | WR | Green Bay Packers
Caught one pass for a three yard touchdown in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

#21 Mike Hilton | CB | Cincinnati Bengals
Started at nickel, recording seven total tackles in a 30-23 win over the Denver Broncos.

#52 Cedric Johnson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals
Recorded two solo tackles, one for a loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack, the first of his career.

#94 Benito Jones | DT | Miami Dolphins
Started at defensive tackle, bringing down four total tackles, one for a loss, and one quarterback hit in a 20-3 win over the Cleveland Browns.

#93 D.J. Jones | DT | Denver Broncos 
Recorded three total tackles, half a sack, and one quarterback hit in a 30-24 OT loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. 

#88 Dawson Knox | TE | Buffalo Bills
Started at tight end, hauling in one pass for four yards in a 40-14 win over the New York Jets.

#33 Deane Leonard | CB | Los Angeles Chargers
Recorded one tackle for a loss, along with one pass defended in a 40-7 win over the New England Patriots.

#14 D.K. Metcalf | WR | Seattle Seahawks 
Hauled in three catches for 42 yards in a win over the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.

#81 Jonathan Mingo | WR | Dallas Cowboys
Recorded one catch for 12 yards in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

#8 Elijah Moore | WR | Cleveland Browns
Played 51 total snaps, recording one catch in a loss to the Miami Dolphins.

#70 Royce Newman | OL | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Was not active in a win over the Carolina Panthers.

#24 Deantre Prince | CB | Jacksonville Jaguars
Did not play in a win over the Tennessee Titans.

#41 Otis Reese IV | LB | Tennessee Titans
Was not active in the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

#93 Mark Robinson | LB | Pittsburgh Steelers
Played 18 special teams snaps, recording one tackle and one forced fumble in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
