Walter Nolen Named SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss football junior defensive tackle Walter Nolen has been named the co-winner of the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week award, as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
This is the second SEC weekly honor of the year for Nolen, who is also a finalist for the Outland Trophy as one of the nation's top interior lineman across either side of the ball.
Nolen had a career day in Ole Miss' 26-14 Egg Bowl victory over Mississippi State last week, tying career highs in tackles (8) and tackles for loss (3.5) while also adding 1.5 sacks to lead the best pass rush in the country. This was Nolen's first time leading the Rebels in tackles, and he helped Ole Miss stifle the Bulldogs to just 39 yards rushing – the fifth sub-50 rushing performance by the Rebel defense this year and their fourth time holding an SEC opponent below the century mark.
Nolen's 3.5 tackles for loss are the most by any single player against Mississippi State this season, and in his last two games combined Nolen has notched 16 total tackles, 6.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks.
