Rifle Grabs Second Straight Win in West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – On Sunday, Ole Miss rifle won its second straight match victory over John Jay College, 4699-4238. The Rebels again killed air rifle, shooting their second consecutive score of 2370 or higher.
 
Ole Miss (6-3, 2-2 GARC) placed all ten shooters in the top-10 aggregate scoring leaderboard. Emma Pereira fired another 1180 to lead all shooters to guide the Rebels to defeat John Jay (3-5).
 
The Rebels quickly took the lead over the Bloodhounds in smallbore, shooting a 2326. Periera led the pack with a 586, helped by her 198 in standing shots. Four other Rebels fired a 580, including Julianna Hays, who shot a perfect prone score.
 
The young guns were the stars of the show as Regan Diamond hit the best score in air rifle. The freshman tied her career-high mark of 595, hitting a 10 in her first 20 shots. Pereira and Derting shot well in air rifle two days in a row, scoring a 594 on Sunday. Martina Gratz and Lea Horvath rounded out the top five with 590s.
 
Ole Miss faces a familiar foe in No. 5 Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia, on Saturday, February 3.
