Rifle Dominates in Win Over Akron

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ole Miss rifle secures a lopsided 4729-4699 victory over Akron on Saturday in Lexington, Ky. Julianna Hays shot a career day with personal bests in all three disciplines. Regan Diamond also fired personal records in smallbore and aggregate.
Guided by the younger team members, Ole Miss (4-1, 1-1 GARC) outperformed Akron by 30 points. Four Rebels finished in the top five in aggregate scoring, with Hays leading the pack. The sophomore ended with a career-high 1186. Followed by two other Rebels, Regan Diamond and Lea Horvath. Diamond's career-high 1182 aggregate score put her as the second-best overall. Emma Pereira rounded out the top-five, shooting an 1178.
The Rebels took a massive lead over the Zips by hitting a top-five program mark in smallbore. The team scored 2355 in smallbore, marking the fifth best for Ole Miss and outscoring Akron by 31 points. The top four smallbore performers wore navy and red. Hays topped the discipline, shooting her best career smallbore score of 592. Diamond also broke a career-best with a 589 and placed second in smallbore.
In air rifle, Ole Miss kept the lead by scoring 2374. Hays wrapped up her outstanding day with another career-high of 594. Horvath also hit a 594, landing in the air rifle top-five. All seven Rebels who shot at the match fired a 590 or higher.
Ole Miss remains in Lexington for a top-10 matchup against No. 9 Kentucky on Sunday. The match is set to start at 8 a.m. CT.
