CHARLESTON, S.C.
- Senior Stani Schiavone led the Ole Miss women's golf team in second round action at the Powerade Cougar Classic on Monday. The Bangor, Pa., native fired an even-par 72 and has a two-day total of 145, placing her tied for 26th place in the individual race. The Rebels are currently sitting in 15th place with a team score of 601, after a round of 303 at historic Yemans Hall.

Fellow SEC conference member, Arkansas is leading the field with a 567 and has a two-stoke lead over Wake Forest and UCLA. North Carolina State (572) and Duke (574) round out the top five. Wake Forest's Sierra Sims continues to lead the individual field after firing a 68 on Monday. Sims' is currently 11-under par for the tournament.

"Stani (Schiavone) is really playing well right now," said Ole Miss head coach Michele Drinkard. "She is processing every shot, playing in the moment and executing each shot before she lets her mind start thinking about the next one.

The rest of team needs to do the same. We need to execute better and leave ourselves easier shots. We can, and we know we can. Tomorrow is a brand new day and one we can improve on."

Entering the final round, the Rebels have a chance to make moves. Ole Miss is within striking distance -- sitting just 14 strokes off of 10th place and is merely eight strokes from tournament host, College of Charleston, who is sitting in 12th place at the end of the second round.

Schiavone continues to be a pillar of consistency throughout the early fall slate. After firing a 1-over par 73 in the opening round, Schiavone carded a round of even par to lead the Rebels in the second round. She recorded three birdies on the round, including back-to-back on holes No. 9 and No. 10.

"My round was fairly consistent today," said Schiavone. "There were a few holes I had to grind out, but I also converted some opportunities. I'm looking forward to finishing strong tomorrow. "

Alison Hovatter (Merdianville, Ala.), Madisen Bentley (University Place, Wash.) and Sofia Idoyaga (Buenos Aires, Argentina) each fired a 5-over par 77, while Abby Newton (Katy, Texas) carded an 8-over par 80.

The Rebels close action at the Cougar Classic tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. (ET) shotgun start. Follow the action with live scoring HERE .
