Ole Miss vs. Louisiana-Lafayette
Vaught-Hemingway Stadium - Oxford, Miss.
Sept. 13, 2014
On the game…
"I'm really happy we went out and took control of the game and kept control of it. There are some things we did not do particularly well today that we have to get cleaned up. Even though you may be the better football team on a given day, you still have to execute and do the things that will make you one of the top-tier teams in the country."
It was a really solid day from Bo (Wallace). He played really well. The receivers played well. It was good to see us get some explosive runs. We beat a pretty good football team. Bo threw for 300-plus yards in basically two quarters. Rod Taylor had a really good day. He's going to help us on the offensive line for sure."
On the offensive weapons…
"Our system is designed to get it to a lot of different people. The more people you get it to, the more difficult you are to defend. Teams continue to roll players to Laquon (Treadwell's) side. It's really benefiting a lot of other kids when that happens. We tried to move him around some to get him loose, but it was still difficult. We have some kids that can make some plays. Bo did a really good job spreading it around and making good reads."
On Senquez Golson…
"He had a solid day. This is the first year he decided he was going to really buy-in. It's not that he was bad the last couple years. There's no question the way he comes to work every day and allows me to coach him that he's just a different guy. When someone does that and has success on the field, it's very rewarding to see good things happen because a kid really decides to buy in."
#10, Vince Sanders, WR
On playing in front of the home crowd …
"It felt really good to be back in front of Rebel Nation. I just wanted to come out and give a good outing in front of the home fans."
#14, Bo Wallace, QB
On playing in front of the home crowd …
"It felt great being back out in front of the home crowd. Vince (Sanders) and Cody (Core) had a great day. Everyone stepped up. The offensive line did a really good job. It just felt good to get the win."
On the status of his shoulder …
"It's definitely 100 percent. It feels great. I definitely feel stronger than I did a year ago."
#21, Senquez Golson, DB
On the defensive performance …
"It was a good win. As a defense, we stepped it up in the second half. We just need to keep working harder to get better."
On his interception return for a touchdown …
"It was a great feeling to finally get one. I guess it only took me three years, but I thank God and look forward to possibly getting more this season."
#4, Denzel Nkemdiche , LB
On being 3-0 on the season …
"It feels great to be 3-0. This is exactly where we want to be. We just have to keep working harder to get better. Our next goal is to be 4-0, and in order for us to do that, we have to get back and prepare for a much improved Memphis team."
On upcoming bye week …
"Memphis is a lot better. We will work stopping the run because we have to get better at it. Our emphasis will be completely on Memphis and improving to 4-0."
On turnovers …
"I told the team before the game, the team that wins the turnover battle is going to win the football game. I said for us to even keep it close we were going to have to be perfect with the turnovers. We would have to get some and then we would maybe have an opportunity to get this game to the fourth quarter and pull it out. On the road against an SEC team, there is no hope with four turnovers."
On the offensive line …
"Our offensive line went up against one of the best defensive lines in the country, and I felt like they held their own. I felt like they gave our quarterback time to throw the ball. They gave big holes for our running backs in the run game. I felt like you could really see they held their own against a quality SEC defensive line."
On two straight losses…
"We have to continue working. Our football team right now is not clicking on all cylinders, but that's part of football and a part of life. Our coaches have to figure that out."
#46, Alonzo Harris, RB
On halftime outlook …
"We still felt like we were in the game at that point. We still had a lot of hope. We were rallying around each other. We wanted to try to at least get the score back up and get in the game. We did not have sad faces. Coach came in and gave us some great ideas of what he wanted in the second half. We came out and tried to execute it. It just did not turn out as well as we planned."
On team morale …
"A scoreboard does not define us. We are just slacking in some areas. We just have to figure out our mistakes. At the end of the game the scoreboard says a different thing than what is really our team."
#8, Terrance Broadway, QB
On the game …
"We did not execute and we have to play better. It is no secret that my performance tonight was unacceptable. It will not happen again. I will fix it."
On the turnovers…
"Execution was a huge part of it. The first one was a play we had been working all week and the corner made a play on it. The second one the defensive back made a play on it. Like I said my performance today was unacceptable. I will fix it."
