OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss' Bobby Massie has been named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. This marks the second Player of the Week honor for a Rebel this season and the first of Massie's career.
The Lynchburg, Va., native helped the Ole Miss offense pile up 478 total yards, including 298 rushing, in the victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday. He posted 11 finishes and four knockdowns while grading out at 92 percent on run plays and 90 percent on pass during the game, and was part of a line that did not allow a sack for the third time this year.
Massie also blocked for Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis as they became the first pair of Rebel running backs to rush for 100 yards in the same game since Joe Gunn and Deuce McAllister accomplished the feat against Georgia in 1999.
The sophomore, who has started 14 straight games at right tackle, anchors a line that tops the SEC and ranks 12th nationally in sacks allowed (7) and ranks second in the conference in rushing offense (221.6 ypg).
