With the Mavericks, he helped the team defeat multiple top-25 schools including Arkansas, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. He played an instrumental role in development of the 2019 NCAA hits leader and saw two of three outfielders earn all-conference honors.
Prior to his time in Arlington, Buchanan spent 2018 as the head coach at Louisiana College where he helped lead the team to their best finish in the conference standings over the last eight seasons.
