NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 15 Ole Miss football team opens its 2026 campaign in Nashville on Sunday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT against Louisville in the Music City Kickoff at Nissan Stadium.

New Era in Oxford
Golding enters 2026 for his first full season as head coach for the Rebels. Golding is 2-1 as a head coach while leading Ole Miss to the CFP semifinals last season. As a coach, Golding has been on the sidelines for eight consecutive 10-win seasons, with his teams combining for a 96-14 (.873) record.
Top 10 Tradition
Ole Miss has now been ranked in the national top 10 in each of the previous six seasons, marking the program's longest such streak since 1959-64. The Rebels begin the season No. 9 in the AP poll and No. 10 in the Coaches poll. This is the second time in the last three years that Ole Miss has debuted in the top 10 in the preseason.
Star Power Returns
Ole Miss returns plenty of firepower on offense, led by quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy. Chambliss enters year two at Ole Miss coming off a stellar campaign during the 2025 season in which he passed for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns, and threw just three interceptions. Lacy returns to Oxford for his junior year coming off a season leading all of FBS in carries with 306 on the season. He additionally rushed for 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns both ranking in the top three in all of FBS.
Setting the Tone
The Rebels have made a habit of starting strong. Ole Miss is now 97-29-5 (.760) in season openers and has taken 24 of the last 29 on the field. The Rebels have won their last five openers and scored 40-plus points in each of their last three, including a 63-7 victory over Georgia State in 2025. Ole Miss became the first team in SEC history to score 60-plus points in three consecutive season openers.
Cardinals Take the Stage
Jeff Brohm leads the 24th-ranked Cardinals in his fourth season at the helm of his alma mater with a 28-12 record through three seasons. The Cardinals are 10-16 all-time in ranked matchups, most recently dropping a 31-24 contest at Notre Dame in September of 2024. Louisville is 9-29-1 all-time against Top 10 opponents, but 2-2 under Jeff Brohm, including a 24-21 win at No. 2 Miami last year.
