Cross Country Prepares for Gans Creek Classic in Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Ole Miss cross country program continues their 2026 schedule this week, as they head north to race in the Gans Creek Classic on Friday, September 25 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
The women's invitational 6K race is set to begin the day at 8 a.m., with the men's invitational 8K scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Ole Miss will have three runners race later in the morning in the 6K open race at 9:45 a.m., as well.
The Rebels last competed in their season opening races at the Memphis Twilight on September 5, where the women claimed the team title and the men took second place.
The Ole Miss women's team had four runners finish in the top 10, led by Alicia Finnis in third place. Adie Luna (fifth), Addy Mitchell (seventh), Brooke Preputnick (eighth), and Jillian Candelino (11th) helped the Rebels claim first place overall. The women had eight of their runners finish within the top 20.
In the men's race to close the night in Memphis, the Rebels placed each of their five scorers in the top 20, paced by Zack Gilbertson in sixth place while Ky Hehir joined him in the top 10. John Shoemaker (11th), Owen Kelley (13th), and Luke Hurley (16th) rounded out the top finishers for the men.
This will be the last race of the regular season slate where each team competes at the same event, as the Rebels will split the men and women up for their third meets. The men will race first, heading to the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday, October 9, while the women will run at the Pre Nationals on Friday, October 16 in Terre Haute, Indiana. The teams will travel together to close out October, as they head to the SEC Championships back in Columbia, Missouri.
