Soccer Bounces Back with Shutout Victory Against ULM

OXFORD, Miss. – Becca Skinner and Teaghan Irvin each scored in the first half as Ole Miss soccer bounced back with a 2-0 victory over ULM on Sunday afternoon at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
Ole Miss (5-1-0) applied pressure early, producing three shots during the opening 14 minutes. Skinner broke through at the 19:17 mark, converting on a pass from Ava Ghoreishi to give the Rebels an early 1-0 advantage.
The goal marked Skinner's second of the season, while Ghoreishi recorded her first assist as a Rebel.
Ole Miss continued to create opportunities following the opening goal. Audrey Shackelford placed an attempt on frame in the 30th minute before ULM produced its first shot on goal six minutes later. Anna Claire Jacobi denied Bernadett Stefan to preserve the Rebels' lead.
Irvin doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Isabelle Wright. The freshman scored for the second consecutive match and recorded her second goal of the season, while Wright picked up her first assist.
The Rebels entered halftime with a 2-0 lead after holding a 12-4 shot advantage.
Ole Miss continued to pressure the ULM defense after the break, placing three shots on goal during the opening minutes of the second half. The Rebels finished with six shots on frame during the final 45 minutes, but the Warhawks goalkeeper Jen Handy kept the deficit at two.
ULM produced its only shot on goal of the second half in the 88th minute, but Taylor Prigge denied Stacey Qosja to complete the shutout.
Ole Miss finished with a 22-8 advantage in shots and placed 10 attempts on goal compared to ULM's two. The Rebels also held 58% of the possession.
Jacobi made one save during the opening half and earned a victory in her first collegiate start. Prigge added one save after entering at halftime. Lauren Montgomery and Marieke Ten Brink also made their Ole Miss debuts in the win.
Ole Miss remains at home to face South Alabama on Thursday at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
