Soccer’s Granno and Skinner Score to Secure Win at UAB

8/23/2026 | Soccer

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sarah Granno and Becca Skinner scored second-half goals as Ole Miss soccer secured a 2-0 victory against UAB on Sunday night at PNC Field.

Ole Miss (4-0-0) completed its three-match road trip with three victories. Taylor Prigge and the Rebel defense recorded their third shutout of the season.

The Rebels produced the first opportunity of the match in the third minute when Granno put an attempt on frame that was denied by UAB goalkeeper Leah Parsons. Jenna Studer followed soon after with a shot in the 11th minute before Ava Ghoreishi forced Parsons into another save seven minutes later.

UAB (1-2-1) recorded its first attempt in the 26th minute, sending a shot wide. Isabella Pontieri responded with a chance in the 35th minute before Bella Leonard put an attempt on goal in the 41st minute.

The Blazers produced their first shot on goal in the 37th minute, but Prigge would make the save. Ole Miss entered halftime with a 6-2 advantage in shots, placing three on frame and earning five corner kicks.

The Rebels continued to push forward after the break. Ghoreishi registered two attempts during the opening 10 minutes of the second half, while Audrey Shackelford added another chance in the 54th minute.

After many attempts, Granno would finally get one to go in the 56th minute, after converting on a pass from Teaghan Irvin to give Ole Miss a 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Granno's first of the season, while Irvin recorded her first career assist in her first career start.

Ole Miss doubled its lead six minutes later, for Skinner stepped up for a penalty kick at the 62:35 mark and converted it for her first goal as a Rebel.

UAB threatened in the 65th minute, but Prigge denied Avery Berryman to preserve the shutout. The Blazers registered one additional attempt during the final 25 minutes, sending it wide as Ole Miss secured its fourth consecutive victory.

The Rebels finished with a 13-5 advantage in shots and placed five attempts on goal compared with two for UAB. Ole Miss earned eight corner kicks while only allowing one and held 52% of the possession. Prigge played all 90 minutes, recording two saves and earning her fourth victory of the season.
Ole Miss returns home Thursday to host Memphis at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT, and the match will be available on SEC Network+.
