Trinidad Chambliss Earns Spot on Davey O’Brien Preseason Watch List

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Davey O'Brien Foundation unveiled their preseason watch list for the 2026 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award on Thursday, given to the nation's top collegiate quarterback each season, selecting Ole Miss' Trinidad Chambliss to the list.
A semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien in 2025, Chambliss is among the top returning quarterbacks in the nation after throwing for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding 527 and eight scores on the ground last year. He has already earned a handful of recognition entering the 2026 season, as he was selected to the preseason watch list for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, Maxwell Award, tabbed a preseason first team All-American by numerous outlets, and named to preseason all-SEC teams by the conference coaches, media, Athlon, and Phil Steele.
The program has had semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien six times before in Bo Wallace during 2014, Matt Corral in 2021, Jaxson Dart in 2023 and 2024, and Chambliss in 2025, while Eli Manning was named a finalist for the honor in 2003.
Semifinalists for the 2026 Davey O'Brien will be announced on November 17, with the three finalists released on November 24. The winner of the award will be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN on December 11.
Coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance a season ago, the Ole Miss football team is set to kickoff the 2026 season on Sunday, September 6 against Louisville at 6:30 p.m. CT at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
