No. 17 Baseball Exits SEC Tournament After First Round Loss to Missouri
5/19/2026 | Baseball
The teams hit six combined home runs and score 18 combined runs as the ball was flying at the Hoover Met. The two teams also became the first two teams in all of college baseball to use the Automatic Ball-Strike System in a game, with Ole Miss becoming the first team to ever make a challenge and Missouri becoming the first team to ever win a challenge.
Hayden Federico went 2-for-5 with a home run and a career-high four RBI. Dom Decker and Austin Fawley also hit home runs in the loss.
Decker opened the game with a leadoff home run, his third leadoff home run of the season. Fawley hit his home run in the second inning giving the Rebels an early 2-0 lead.
Missouri got on the board in the third inning with a two-run home run that tied things up at 2-2.
The Tigers took the lead in the fifth on an RBI single and then a grand slam by Kaden Peer made it 7-2 Missouri.
Ole Miss answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning, with four runs of their own. Brayden Randle got things started with a single to right center and then scored on a double from Tristan Bissetta. Judd Utermark singled and Will Furniss walked to load the bases.
Federico drove in two runs with a single and Owen Paino drove in another with a ground-rule double to make it 7-6.
Missouri's Jace Woita hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 8-6 in favor of the Tigers.
In the seventh inning, Utermark opened the inning with a walk and Federico tied the game with a two-run shot over the left field fence.
Missouri scored two more times in the eighth inning, stringing together four singles and taking advantage of a misplay in right field.
Ole Miss had just one baserunner over the final two innings.
The Rebels now await their fate in the NCAA Tournament. They will find out their destination on Selection Monday.
