No. 15 Baseball Finishes Regular Season In Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama defeated Ole Miss 6-2 Saturday afternoon to claim the weekend series and bring the regular season to a close.
The Rebels are 36-20 overall and 15-15 in the Southeastern Conference. The Crimson Tide is 37-18 and 18-12. Both teams head to Hoover, Ala., for the SEC Tournament which begins on Tuesday. The Rebels will be the No. 9-seed in the tournament and play No. 16-seeded Missouri at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
After a scoreless top of the first inning, Alabama put a run on the scoreboard with a Justin Lebron RBI double after a Bryce Fowler single.
The Rebels took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. Austin Fawley and Owen Paino got aboard with singles, and the bases were loaded after Topher Jones was hit by a starter Myles Upchurch pitch. Dom Decker singled to left to score Fawley. Tristan Bissetta flew out to right to score Paino.
Alabama tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the third on a John Lemm RBI single. But it was a three-run fourth inning that gave the Crimson Tide some cushion. After three runs were scored and there were two outs, starter Cade Townsend was relieved by Hudson Calhoun who got the final out of the frame with a strikeout.
Alabama added another run in the fifth on a leadoff solo homer by Eric Hines, and it was 6-2 Tide through five. Walker Hooks, who had entered for Calhoun with two outs in the fifth, pitched the rest of the way. The Tide got no more runs.
Alabama outhit Ole Miss 11 to 4 in the contest. Upchurch (8-3) was the winner, and Townsend got the loss (5-3).
