Judd Utermark Sets Baseball’s Career Home Run Record in Win Over UT Martin

5/12/2026 | Baseball

OXFORD, Miss. – Senior third baseman Judd Utermark became Ole Miss baseball’s new home run king as the Rebels blew past UT Martin, 17-6, Tuesday evening at Swayze Field.

Utermark’s first inning blast signified No. 49 of his career, officially surpassing Ole Miss (35-18) legend Kyle Gordon as the new program standard. Gordon held the record for just under 40 years, with other Rebel greats Tim Elko, Matt Smith and Matt Snyder each threatening in recent years, but it’s Utermark who took the crown.

Utermark finished the day 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Ole Miss’ hitting was hot all evening, finishing the day with 12 knocks. Austin Fawley, Will Furniss and Daniel Pacella also contributed two hits each, Fawley with a home run and Furniss with a career-high five RBI. Four other Rebels earned knocks, three of which from the starting rotation.

Ole Miss’ pitching staff fanned 11 batters in the game. Wil Libbert got the start for the Rebels, working 3.0 innings and allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Owen Kelly got this win after going 2.0 innings with four strikeouts, improving his record to 3-2. The Skyhawks’ starter Dean McCalla took the loss.

Utermark got the game started the best way he knew how, by sending the first pitch he saw over the wall for two runs in the opening frame. In doing so and setting Ole Miss’ career program record, Utermark also became the first Rebel with two seasons hitting at least 20 home runs.

Ole Miss’ bats stayed awake in the second, exploding for 10 runs in the inning. Fawley headlined Ole Miss’ efforts with four total RBI, including a two-run homer for his 11th of the season. Owen Paino scored twice in the frame, including the first of the inning off a sharp liner to the opposite field from Fawley. Collin Reuter also scored on that hit from Fawley.

Tristan Bissetta entered the scoring party with a knock to center that bounced off the second baseman and scored Fawley from third and Pacella from second.

After a pitching change, Furniss launched a double to score another trio of runners, putting Ole Miss ahead by nine. He later scored on a sacrifice fly from Reuter. Fawley capped the onslaught by plating the final two runners of the inning with his home run.

The Rebels scored thrice more in the bottom of the third. Furniss recorded his fourth and career-high fifth RBI of the game after a single sent Decker and Bissetta. Utermark scored his third run of the game in the next at-bat off a sacrifice fly from Hayden Federico. The Rebels took a 15-1 lead into the fourth inning.

After some silent innings and another run from UT Martin, Brett Moseley went to work with Ole Miss’ third homer of the day. His, a solo shot, was his third of the season and put Ole Miss ahead 16-2.

In the fifth, UT Martin added four runs to close the gap back to 10.

Ole Miss added an insurance run after Brayden Randle forced a fielder’s error to score Reuter in the bottom of the sixth. The score stood at 17-6, and Noah Allen closed the game on the mound with a pair of strikeouts and a fielder’s choice.

Ole Miss is headed to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama this weekend, beginning May 14 at 6 p.m. CT. Game one will be streamed on SECN+.
