Women’s Tennis Drops Match on Road to No. 12 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 32 Ole Miss Women's Tennis team fell to No. 12 Vanderbilt, 5-2, on Thursday night at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center.
A court four singles win for Vanderbilt's Trinetra Vijayakumar would deliver the clinching point against Ole Miss, 4-1. Vijayakumar defeated Andrea Nova in a tough three-set stretch, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.
Starting in doubles, the Rebels would get started on court three, with Olson and Beatrice Stagno taking down Sophia Webster and Sonya Macavei, 6-2. The Commodores would end up getting the better of Ole Miss on courts one and two to clinch the doubles point.
In singles, the Rebels found success on court three, where Brooklyn Olson took on No. 93 Mia Yamakita. After Yamakita took the first set, 6-3, Olson would rally in the next two sets, 6-4, 6-1, to take the match and earn the ranked win as the Rebels trailed in the match 3-1.
After Vanderbilt's win on court four to clinch the match, the remaining two singles courts were played out. Riley Crowder went on to secure her singles court after taking down Erin Pearce, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
The Rebels will return home on Saturday, March 21, to face the Missouri Tigers at 1 p.m. at the Palmer Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
