OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women's golf head coach Kory Henkes has been named to the inaugural fall watch list for the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
Henkes is one of 19 Division I head coaches selected and one of five representatives from the South Region. The inaugural fall watch list recognizes coaches who made an early impact on their programs during the fall collegiate season, with the WGCA continuing to evaluate performances throughout the spring.
Recognized as the highest annual coaching honor in women's collegiate golf, the award is presented to the top coach in Division I, Division II, Division III and the NAIA.
The selection marks the fifth time in Henkes' career that she has been named to the WGCA National Coach of the Year watch list. Henkes earned the award in 2021 after leading Ole Miss to its first NCAA Championship.
Now in her 12th season at the helm, Henkes led the Rebels to three runner-up finishes across four tournaments during the fall schedule.
Ole Miss opened the season by placing second at the Boilermaker Classic, posting a 5-under 859. The Rebels added another runner-up finish at The Ally before closing the fall one stroke shy of the team title at the Illini Women's Invitational.
Mary Miller paced Ole Miss during the fall with a team-best 71.00 stroke average and three top-10 finishes. The junior tied for fifth at the Boilermaker Classic, placed ninth at the Cougar Classic and tied for third at the Illini Women's Invitational.
Freshman Lisa Herman also recorded two top-three finishes, placing second in her collegiate debut at the Boilermaker Classic before finishing third at The Ally.
Ole Miss will open its spring schedule Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at the Grand Reservation Dominican Republic Classic in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
