No. 20 Women’s Golf Finishes Runner-Up at Illini Women’s Invitational

MEDINAH, Ill. - No. 20 Ole Miss women's golf closed its fall schedule with a runner-up finish at the Illini Women's Invitational on Tuesday at Medinah Country Club.
The Rebels fired a field-best 11-under 277 during the final round to climb two spots on the leaderboard, finishing the tournament at 23-under 841. Ole Miss ended one stroke behind Indiana, which captured the team title at 24-under 840.
The runner-up results marked Ole Miss' third top-two finish in four fall tournaments. The Rebels also placed second at the Boilermaker Classic and The Ally.
All five members of the Ole Miss lineup shot under par during the final round, led by Ebba Lundqvist's 4-under 68. The Rebels finished the tournament with rounds of 283, 281 and 277.
Mary Miller paced Ole Miss by tying for third at 11-under 205, collecting her second top-5 finish of the season. Miller followed rounds of 65 and 71 with a 3-under 69 to finish four strokes behind individual champion Mariana Mesones of Minnesota.
Matilda Björkman tied for 12th at 5-under 211 after carding rounds of 72, 69 and 70. Kajsalotta Svarvar finished one stroke behind Björkman, tying for 14th at 4-under 212 following a final-round 70.
Lundqvist climbed 19 positions during the final round to finish tied for 17th at 3-under 213. The freshman improved each round, posting scores of 76, 69 and a career best 68.
Lisa Herman rounded out the Ole Miss lineup in a tie for 45th at 3-over 219. Herman closed the tournament with a 2-under 70 after opening with rounds of 76 and 73.
Competing as an individual, Sophie Linder finished 11th at 6-under 210. The senior recorded rounds of 67, 74 and 69 to give Ole Miss five golfers inside the individual top 20.
The Rebels will open their spring schedule Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at the Grand Reservation Dominican Republic Classic in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
