Soccer Falls 1-0 at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – Ole Miss Soccer battled Georgia scoreless for more than 73 minutes before falling 1-0 Friday night at the Turner Soccer Complex.
Georgia (5-3-5, 2-1-3 SEC) applied pressure throughout the opening half, but Rebel goalkeeper Anna Claire Jacobi made four saves to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Jacobi recorded her first stop in the 10th minute before adding saves in the 28th, 43rd and 44th minutes.
Ole Miss (7-7-0, 0-6-0 SEC) created consecutive chances midway through the half. Alena Watts sent an attempt wide in the 15th minute before Ava Ghoreishi placed a shot on goal just over a minute later, forcing a save from Georgia goalkeeper Jordan Brown.
Sarah Granno produced the Rebels' final attempt of the opening period in the 44th minute, but her shot went wide as the teams entered halftime scoreless.
Ghoreishi created another opportunity for Ole Miss early in the second half, but her attempt in the 56th minute was blocked. Jacobi then made saves against Ayda Pannell and Mya Townes to preserve the scoreless match.
Hailey Gordon broke the deadlock at the 73:19 mark, scoring an unassisted goal to give Georgia a 1-0 advantage. It was Gordon's first goal of the season.
The Bulldogs held Ole Miss without another shot over the final 16 minutes to secure the victory.
Georgia finished with a 20-4 advantage in shots, including a 7-1 edge in attempts on goal, and earned seven corner kicks to Ole Miss' two. Ghoreishi led the Rebels with two shots and recorded their lone attempt on target.
Jacobi played all 90 minutes and finished with six saves, giving her 14 stops over the Rebels' past two matches. Allison Kolski also played the full match, increasing her season total to 1,260 minutes.
Ole Miss returns home to host Missouri on Thursday at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
