Football vs. Missouri: Fresh Off The Field
10/18/2026 | Football
OXFORD, Miss. – No. 9 Ole Miss hosted No. 13 Missouri in a top-15 SEC matchup Saturday afternoon as the Rebels celebrated their 99th Homecoming. Ole Miss delivered a commanding 31-3 win over the Tigers in front of the home crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The Rebels continued their perfect red-zone scoring percentage, capitalizing on all five opportunities to improve to 24-for-24 on the season. Ole Miss entered the contest as one of two FBS teams with a 100 percent red-zone scoring rate. The Rebels also hold the highest touchdown conversion percentage among those teams, finding the end zone on 21 of 24 opportunities for an 87.5 percent rate.
Hear what Pete Golding, Will Echoles, Kewan Lacy and Trinidad Chambliss had to say following the win.
"Another unbelievable atmosphere, obviously," Golding said. "I thought the crowd showed up; the fans showed up early. I thought our kids played extremely hard. I think it was no different than any other week. It wasn't perfect; it really wasn't. I think that is the most exciting thing: that we could still play better football. But it was good to see some things that you emphasize in all three phases show up and guys play well. I think Trinidad [Chambliss] probably wishes he had a couple throws back. He had a couple too many drops. We still had some missed tackles on defense that created some explosive plays, but I thought we tightened up in the red zone, which was good to see, and we were able to get off the field."
DEFENSIVE CLINIC
Defensive lineman Will Echoles matched his career high with two pass breakups while recording the seventh sack of his career.
"I just go out there and play," Echoles said. "I am trying to do my best for my team to win. We got a great group of guys. I know I gave my best. I know I get tired; I got another group coming after me to go hard too. So, it goes hand in hand, and when you have great players in the room, you can do that. You can go hard every play because you ain't got to save."
The Rebel defense held Missouri to just three points, marking only the second time in the last decade that Ole Miss has held an SEC opponent to three points or fewer. The previous occurrence came against South Carolina on Oct. 5, 2024.
"We knew the Florida game; we didn't put the best product on tape," Echoles said. "You know, we made it simpler on defense to get back to our old self: attacking blocks, getting all blocks, and making plays."
DYNAMIC DUO
Running back Kewan Lacy surpassed 2,000 rushing yards in his collegiate career, recording 127 yards Saturday afternoon.
"The potential of our offense is high," Lacy said. "We got the guys up front, we definitely got the quarterback, the receivers. We have every component on the field that we need. We just have to keep taking it day by day, getting better, and building from this game."
With Lacy and Frazier each surpassing the 100-yard rushing mark, Ole Miss recorded its first game with multiple 100-yard rushers since 2022 against Arkansas, when Quinshon Judkins rushed for 217 yards and Zach Evans added 207.
"I want to play all four quarters of the game, just be out there supporting my teammates," Lacy said. "So, just having that competitive mindset to finish four quarters of the game is something I stand by."
CHAMBLISS MAGIC
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss cracked Ole Miss' all-time top 10 in career passing yards. He also recorded his 19th consecutive game with a touchdown pass, tying Matt Corral for the second-longest streak in program history.
"Yeah, getting everybody involved is crucial," Chambliss said. "Not being solely focused on one receiver or two receivers, our guys can make a lot of plays when the ball is in their hands. I just go through my progression and then just see who's open and who's not. And just take what the defense gives us honestly and throw to an open guy, really. I mean, I have all the confidence in our receivers and our tight ends."
Chambliss has now recorded both a passing and rushing touchdown in five of the Rebels' first six games this season, marking the 10th time in his Ole Miss career. He also has tallied four total touchdowns for the second time this season and the third time in his Ole Miss career.
"Going into this week, I'm focusing on practice, accuracy, and making sure that the timing of the receivers and the routes they run are key," Chambliss said. "So, I've got to get better at passing and being more accurate."
