10/17/2026 | Volleyball
OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss volleyball program will wrap up a brief homestand on Sunday, hosting South Carolina at 12 p.m. CT, at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.
The Rebels (8-9, 2-4 SEC) welcome the Gamecocks (8-9, 1-6 SEC) for a key SEC clash. The match will be televised on the SEC Network.
RALLY POINTS
The Rebels and Gamecocks have played a tight all-time series, with the Gamecocks holding the 31-23 all-time lead heading into action on Sunday. While South Carolina took last season's matchup in convincing fashion, the Rebels have won four of the last seven. Despite that, each of the last three matchups have ended up in a sweep in one direction or another.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite a better hitting performance, the Rebels were unable to stop an efficient Georgia attack, falling 3-0 on Friday night. Jorda Crook led the Rebels with 10 kills, while Bella Bonanno stepped up at the libero position in a spot start, recording 12 digs. Ole Miss also found success setting the middle, as Keirstyn Carlton notched six kills on .500 hitting and Ryea Jackson was a perfect 3-for-3 on swings, but the Bulldogs offense surged behind 19 kills from Bianna Muoneke to secure the victory.
CAM CAN
Ole Miss libero Cameron Bradley had a season debut to remember, tallying an NCAA leading 78 digs over the first three matches of the season on her way to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bradley bested her previous career-high in digs in all three matches, headlined by a 30-dig performance in the finale against LMU.
Since that time, Bradley has gotten off to a sensational start to what has been a breakout campaign. Despite missing two matches, Bradley ranks third in the SEC in total digs at 266, while the Austin, Texas native also leads the SEC and ranks 11th in the nation in digs per set with 4.93.
Bradley is in her first season as the starting libero following the graduation of all-time digs leader Cammy Niesen and has seamlessly stepped into the rotation. Bradley has also shined at the service line with 14 service aces this season.
TIME TO CROOK
The Rebels made a big splash in the transfer portal entering this season, adding UAB opposite Jorda Crook to the program. A native of Ohatchee, Ala., Crook made her mark in three seasons as a Blazer, earning two All-AAC First Team honors and taking home five AAC Player of the Week awards, becoming the first UAB volleyball player to ever accomplish the feat.
Crook follows a growing path of impact transfers into the program. Head coach Bre Henry and her staff have developed 400-kill hitters in back-to-back seasons, with Crook entering the fold on the heels of 394 kills as a junior at UAB.
Crook is off to a huge start to her Ole Miss tenure, tallying a team-high 201 kills, while also leading the team with 53.0 blocks and ranking second in with18 service aces.
Crook made personal history against Missouri, reaching 1,000 kills in her decorated career and doing so in just 86 matches.
THE ROAD TO 1K
After senior opposite Jorda Crook earned her 1,000th collegiate kill in a home victory over Missouri on October 2, the Rebels have their eyes on more big milestones ahead of the meat of the SEC schedule.
Shayla Meyer is seeking to join Crook at 1,000 kills, standing at 907 in her collegiate career. The fifth year is unique in all have come as a Rebel and reaching the milestone would put Meyer into the top-10 all-time in the rally scoring era at Ole Miss. Setter Vivianna Samaniego is also chasing a personal milestone, standing 130 assists away from 1,000 assists.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Shayla Meyer enters her final collegiate season with eyes on the record books. After multiple service aces at No. 4 Kentucky, Meyer moved into a tie for third place in the rally scoring era in service aces and now has 86 in her career. Meyer is seeking to become the eighth Rebel to ever reach 100 service aces.
Her 32 aces in 2025 marked Meyer's second straight season with 30 or more service aces. A third-consecutive 30-ace season would be enough to allow Meyer to become just the second Rebel in the rally scoring era to tally 100 or more service aces and put pressure on becoming the all-time leader in the era.
Additionally, Meyer also has eyes on several longer-term milestones, including 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Meyer currently sits at 907 kills and 743 digs in her standout Rebel tenure.
SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA
Despite just an 8-9 record and 1-6 mark in SEC play, year two for head coach Sarah Rumely Noble has seen flashes of what the former Appalachian State head coach is looking to build in Columbia after just 10 wins in 2025. Despite some struggles on the pin in terms of hitting percentage, it's been a strong season for the middles, who have helped South Carolina average 2.49 blocks per set. Senior Ava Leahy has been excellent, hitting .348 with 150 kills, ranking second on the team, while playing alongside Elise Marchal, who averages 1.12 blocks per set.
Additionally, Lilly Gillespie has been an anchor at the libero spot, averaging 4.32 digs per set. For South Carolina to have success, they will need a big offensive performance from Olivia Borgman, who leads the team with 184 kills, but is hitting just .170 entering play on Sunday.
