Volleyball Set for SEC Tournament Rematch Against Missouri
10/1/2026 | Volleyball
OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss volleyball program is set to face off against Missouri for the first time since a marathon, 3-2 victory in the 2025 SEC Tournament, hosting the Tigers on Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
The Rebels (7-5, 1-0 SEC) return home for the first time since September 8, hosting the Tigers (8-5, 1-0 SEC) to open the SEC home slate. The match will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
RALLY POINTS
The Rebels and Tigers are set to resume what has been a very competitive all-time series, with Missouri holding the all-time lead of 16-12. Despite a 3-0 loss in Columbia last season, the Rebels rallied together for one of the most exciting matches of the season in the SEC Tournament, downing the Tigers, 3-2, in the second round. The Rebels built a 2-1 lead, before hanging on for a 16-14 fifth set victory. Shayla Meyer shined with 18 kills and 15 digs, while Melia Johnson added 10 kills in the matchup. Four of the last six matches between the two sides have ended in five setters.
LAST TIME OUT
The Ole Miss volleyball program opened SEC play with a bang, rolling past Alabama in a 3-0 sweep on Sunday. The Rebels secured the program's eighth consecutive win over Alabama, led by 13 kills from Melia Johnson, while Cameron Bradley added 18 digs and Keirstyn Carlton tacked on four kills and six blocks. The Rebels held Alabama to a -.022 hitting percentage in the win, marking the first time they have held an SEC opponent to negative hitting since a 2017 victory over Mississippi State. It also marked the Rebels first SEC season opening victory since 2023, also over Alabama.
CAM CAN
Ole Miss libero Cameron Bradley had a season debut to remember, tallying an NCAA leading 78 digs over the first three matches of the season on her way to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bradley bested her previous career-high in digs in all three matches, headlined by a 30-dig performance in the finale against LMU.
Since that time, Bradley has gotten off to a sensational start to what has been a breakout campaign. Despite missing one match, Bradley ranks second the SEC in total digs at 221, while the Austin, Texas native also leads the SEC and ranks seventh in the nation in digs per set with 5.02.
Bradley is in her first season as the starting libero following the graduation of all-time digs leader Cammy Niesen and has seamlessly stepped into the rotation. Bradley has also shined at the service line with 12 service aces this season.
TIME TO CROOK
The Rebels made a big splash in the transfer portal entering this season, adding UAB opposite Jorda Crook to the program. A native of Ohatchee, Ala., Crook made her mark in three seasons as a Blazer, earning two All-AAC First Team honors and taking home five AAC Player of the Week awards, becoming the first UAB volleyball player to ever accomplish the feat.
Crook follows a growing path of impact transfers into the program. Head coach Bre Henry and her staff have developed 400-kill hitters in back-to-back seasons, with Crook entering the fold on the heels of 394 kills as a junior at UAB.
Crook is off to a huge start to her Ole Miss tenure, tallying 154 kills, while leading the team with 46.0 blocks and 16 service aces. Crook has registered 989 kills, 391 digs, 212.0 total blocks, and 65 aces over her career and adds a dynamic piece to the offensive attack.
THE ROAD AHEAD
In addition to an already played scrimmage against Arkansas State, who reached the postseason last year, the Rebels are set to face seven teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament this season.
So far, the Rebels have downed Central Arkansas, who reached the tournament last season, while earning key early wins over Northern Arizona, Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama.
Additionally, the list of teams does not include several quality opponents that the Rebels are slated to face throughout conference play that did not reach the NCAA Tournament.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Shayla Meyer enters her final collegiate season with eyes on the record books. This season, Meyer moved into sole possession of eighth place in the rally scoring era in service aces and now has 82 in her career. Her 32 aces in 2025 marked Meyer's second straight season with 30 or more service aces.
A third-consecutive 30-ace season would be enough to allow Meyer to become just the second Rebel in the rally scoring era to tally 100 or more service aces and put pressure on becoming the all-time leader in the era.
Additionally, Meyer also has eyes on several longer-term milestones, including 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Meyer currently sits at 865 kills and 714 digs in her standout Rebel tenure.
SCOUTING MISSOURI
After just missing out on the NCAA Tournament in 2025, the Missouri Tigers are seeking a return to the national stage, and have opened the year at 8-5 and 1-0 in the SEC, following a win over Vanderbilt. Head coach Dawn Sullivan has been very effective in building a winner in Columbia, with 65 wins in her fourth season at the helm.
The Tigers feature a balanced offensive attack from the new-look roster. Sophomore Paige Felder has been the most prolific, tallying 116 kills on .223 hitting. The Tigers have five with at least 60 kills, with an additional four over 30 kills. Defensively, the Tigers have found success in blocking, with Eva Smith leading the charge at 52.0 total blocks. Evansville transfer Ainoah Cruz is off to a big start as the new starting libero, averaging 4.71 digs per set.
