SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's nationally televised game between Ole Miss and Texas will mark the 10th meeting of the series. Texas holds an 8-1 advantage in a series that dates to 1981. The Rebels only win against the Longhorns came in 1988, an 88-67 victory in Oxford.

Ole Miss and Texas faced off for the first time as SEC foes last season in Oxford. The Longhorns had a dreadful shooting percentage because of the Rebel's stout defense, but still emerged victorious, 61-58. Madison Scott and Sira Thienou had strong individual efforts, totaling 17 and 14 points, respectively. Thienou added three steals in her defensive effort.

One of the best individual efforts by a Rebel against the Longhorns came in the 1988-89 season, when Sherry Slayton dished out the fifth-most assists in a single game with 13.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
Vic Schaefer is in his sixth season as head coach of Texas' women's basketball program. In his tenure, he's guided Texas to some of the most consistently successful seasons in program history, holding a 160-36 record in his time in Austin. He's led the Longhorns to a 16-0 start to 2025-26, and are one of the top teams in the country with a No. 2 ranking in the AP and coaches polls.

His squad this season has been primed to be one of the best in the country, ranking top-10 nationally in eight statistical categories, including but not limited to scoring offense (3rd), defense (8th) and margin (2nd), as well as turnover margin (1st) and field goal percentage (4th). There are no shortages of talent for Texas, who is led by junior Madison Booker. The two-time All-American was last season's SEC Player of the Year, and was slated to repeat this season in the preseason polls. She's entering Sunday's matchup averaging 19.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists, not to mention her 2.7 steals per game as well. Her consistent dominance has resulted in a triple-double this season against UTRGV.

Behind Booker is a trio of additional double-digit average scorers in Jordan Lee (15.6), Aaliyah Crump (13.2) and Kyla Oldacre (11.6). Each athlete has a unique way of being effective offensively, and each are extremely efficient from the field.

Texas' field general is fifth-year guard Rori Harmon, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest Longhorns in program history. She's the program leader in assists with 860 to her name, which is also the most by any active member of the SEC. She's a thief defensively, averaging 3.2 steals per game and 51 total, both are top-25 in the country.

The duo between Booker and Harmon has been nearly automatic in their time together. In games both athletes have played throughout their respective careers, Texas is 62-4.

LAST TIME OUT
Ole Miss women's basketball opened the conference slate undefeated with a 79-62 victory over Georgia on Thursday afternoon at the Sandy & John Black Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi.

Ole Miss' 79 points scored the most against Georgia since 1996, and the fourth-most scored against it in series history. The Rebels have won the past five games against the Lady Bulldogs, which is the longest series streak for the Rebels in program history.

Five athletes reached double-digit scoring, led once again by Cotie McMahon. The Rebel superstar put up 24 points, her eighth game this season north of 20 points. Behind her, Latasha Lattimore and Christeen Iwuala added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Debreasha Powe and Kaitlin Peterson scored 10 points apiece, with Peterson's coming off the bench. The duo went a combined 7-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-6 from 3-point range.

NONCON SUCCESS
Ole Miss entered SEC play with the most wins in a nonconference slate in the 21st century. No Rebel squad has begun SEC with at least 13 wins since 2000, except for Coach Yo's Team 51. Additionally, Ole Miss played the most nonconference games by any SEC team this season, competing in the maximum 15 games available.

NO FLY ZONE
As a team, Ole Miss has rejected 80 shots so far this season for an average of 5.0 blocks per game. Latasha Lattimore leads the Rebels with 33 total blocks, ranking third in the SEC and 12th in the nation. All eleven other Rebels has earned at least one block so far this season.

The Rebels are on pace for 155 blocks this season at their current pace, which would be the third most in program history.

C-SQUARED
Christeen Iwuala and Cotie McMahon have become quite the dynamic duo for the Rebels. Combined the two seniors account for 42.1% of the Rebels' points this season and together have been the game leaders in scoring 15 out of the 16 matchups. In rebounding, the pair has accounted for 33.3% of Ole Miss' total rebounds, leading the Rebels' in boards in 13 out of the 16 games so far. Iwuala has earned six double-doubles this year, and McMahon has notched three, combining for nine of the eleven double-doubles any Rebel has registered during the 2025-26 season.

THE IWUALA IMPACT
Christeen Iwuala has established herself as one of the top frontcourt players in the SEC throughout the nonconference season. She has recorded a double-double in a team-high six outings this year, after previously never earning the feat in any of her three seasons of collegiate basketball prior.

Additionally, Iwuala has grabbed the most rebounds by a Rebel in ten games this year, leading Ole Miss in the category, while also leading the Rebels in scoring five times. She has especially shown to be effective in second chance opportunities, ranking third in the SEC and 23rd in the nation in offensive rebounds with 3.9 per game.

Iwuala is following the pattern that Rebel transfers under Coach Yo tend to blossom in their second year in Oxford, joining the likes of Marquesha Davis, Angel Baker and Shakira Austin.

SHE'S THE mcMAHON
Cotie McMahon has provided a spark to the Ole Miss offense in her first season in Oxford, She has scored at least 10 points in each of Ole Miss' first 16 games this season, surpassing Shandricka Sessom's 14-game mark set in 2015-16. McMahon now sets her sights on Nikki Byrd, who started the 2011-12 season with 17 consecutive games of double-digit points. Should she keep her pace, McMahon will tie Byrd against Texas and pass her against Oklahoma.year. Eight of those double-digit games have been north of 20 points, which is the most by a Rebel through 16 games since the 2009-10 season when Bianca Thomas had 11. The last Rebel to have 20-plus points in eight games during a season was Angel Baker in 2022-23.

Additionally, in Ole Miss' matchup against MVSU, McMahon became the eighth Rebel in program history to surpass 1,700 career points, currently sitting at 1,787.
