4/14/2025 | Women's Golf

BELLEAIR, Fla. – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up round one at the SEC Championship on Monday with a 1-under, 279 and currently is tied for fourth place.

The Rebels are second in the field with 62 total pars and were one of just five teams under par on the day at the Pelican Golf Club.

Senior Caitlyn Macnab led the way for the Rebels with a 2-under, 68, during Monday's opening round and is tied for ninth individually. Macnab got off to a quick start with a birdie on three of her first four holes. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native then reeled off 12 straight pars before a bogey on No. 17 put her at 68 on the day.

Rebel duo Kajsalotta Svarvar and Sophie Linder both shot an even par 70 on Monday and are tied for 20th. Svarvar began her round with five straight pars before a birdie at No. 6. The highlight of the day for the freshman from Halmstad, Sweden, came at No. 7.  Svarvar holed out from the 95 yards out on the 495-yard, par-5, for an eagle. It was one of four eagles on the day for the field.

Linder began her day with a birdie on her first hole. After a bogey on No. 3 and 8, Linder birdied two par-3 holes at No. 9 and 12 to get in the red. A bogey on No. 16 and two pars to finish her round would put her in the clubhouse with a 70. Linder is second on the team in par-3 scoring (2.75).

Junior Nicole Gal's opening round of play would conclude with Gal sitting tied for 30th overall at 1-over par. After a bogey on No. 3 and 6, Gal was sitting at 2-over thru six holes, but responded with a birdie on the par-5, No. 7. She would go on to make par on seven holes on the back nine to go into the clubhouse with a 71.

Rounding out the Rebel lineup in Florida was Filippa Sundquist, who is playing in her first SEC Championship with Ole Miss. Sundquist ended her day with a 74 (+4) to sit tied for 57th overall.

The Rebels' second round from Belleair is set to tee off beginning at 7:10 a.m. CT Tuesday morning on Hole 10.
