Men’s Tennis Set to Host No. 11 Mississippi State to Conclude Regular Season

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis will host No. 11 Mississippi State for its final regular season event on Friday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m. CT at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center to wrap up the Rebels' 2024-25 regular season campaign.

THE REBELS 
Matthieu Chambonniere (Fr.) - Paris, Île-de-France
-Earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on March 5
-Holds a 21-7 overall record on the singles courts and has tallied 14 doubles wins on the season
-Defeated LSU's Brock Anderson, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the Rebels first SEC win of the 2025 season
-Named the Houndstooth Draw doubles champions at the SEC Challenge with doubles partner Benjamin Martin in the fall
 
Marcel Kamrowski (Jr.) - Gdańsk, Poland
-Junior transfer from Middle Tennessee State
-Defeated LSU's Alessio Vasquez 6-3, 6-4 to help the Rebel's defeat the Tigers and clinch their first SEC win of the season
-Went 2-0 in his Ole Miss debut against Tulane 
-Defeated Asaf Friedler and Vincent Vohl, 6-4, with partner Kai Milburn to tally his first doubles win as a Rebel
 
Loan Lestir (Fr.) - Lille, France
-Has tallied 14 singles wins this season
-Made his collegiate dual match debut against Memphis and clinched the match point for Ole Miss after defeating Michael Kouame, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3
-Named SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 22
-Secured a 6-4, 6-3 win over Florida's 113th-ranked player Henry Jefferson
 
Benjamin Martin (Fr.) - Nort-sur-Erdre, France
-Has captured 10 singles wins in the 2024-25 season
-Named the Houndstooth Draw doubles champions at the SEC Challenge with partner Matthieu Chambonniere
-Clinched the match for Ole Miss against No. 21 Alabama after defeating Zach Foster, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2
-Was one of five Rebels to represent Ole Miss at the ITA Southern Regional in the fall  
 
Kai Milburn (Fr.) - Queenstown, New Zealand 
-Arrived to Oxford in January to compete with the Rebels in the spring
-Paired up with Isac Strömberg against Auburn to take down the No. 13 duo in the country, 7-6 (7-5)
-Earned four doubles victories against nationally ranked duos with Strömberg
-Defeated Asaf Friedler and Vincent Vohl 6-4 with partner Marcel Kamrowski to earn his first doubles win as a Rebel 
 
Noah Schlagenhauf (Jr.) - Nuertingen, Germany
-Has captured 17 singles wins in his junior season campaign 
-Holds 10 doubles wins in the 2024-25 season
-Advanced to the qualifying round of the ITA-All Americans in the fall
-Defeated No. 84 Dimitris Paliouras, 6-4, 6-4, in win over Georgia Southern
 
Isac Strömberg (Jr.) - Stockholm, Sweden
-Bested Alabama's No. 62 Andrii Zimnokh, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the fall season to earn his first ranked win of the 2024-25 season
-Paired up with Kai Milburn against Auburn to take down the No. 13 duo in the country, 7-6 (7-5)
-Earned four doubles victories against nationally ranked duos with Milburn
-Has earned 12 singles wins in the 2024-25 campaign 
 
Gordon Whitwell (Jr.) - Oxford, Mississippi 
-Named to SEC Community Service Team
-Secured his first singles win of the spring season over Eastern Kentucky's Darko Kolevski, 6-1, 6-4
-Has secured three wins on the doubles courts with partner Strömberg
-Advanced to the doubles round of 16 at the ITA Southern Regional in the fall season
 
REBELS IN THE RANKINGS
Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn made some noise three weeks ago on the doubles courts after defeating Auburn's 13th-ranked pair of Billy Blaydes and Will Nolan, capturing a 7-6 (7-5) win over Auburn's student-athletes. This win marked the duo's third victory of the season and tallied their first ranked win of the 2025 campaign. Strömberg and Milburn have stayed consistent and most recently made their way up to the No. 69 spot in the ITA rankings. The duo boasts a 5-5 record on the 2025 campaign, including four victories against nationally ranked foes. 
 
TEAM PROFILE: MISSISSIPPI STATE 
Matt Roberts is in his 10th season at the helm of the Mississippi State men's tennis program. The No. 11 Bulldogs hold a 19-4 (9-3 SEC) season record and most recently defeated No. 29 Auburn, 5-2. No. 41 Benito Sanchez Martinez leads the way for the Bulldogs on the singles courts with an 11-1 record primarily on court one. Mississippi State has three additional ranked singles athletes including No. 61 Peter Jovanovic, No. 96 Mario Martinez Serrano, and No. 97 Niccolo Baroni. Martinez teams up with Jovanovic to make up the No. 2 doubles team in the nation, holding an impressive 26-4 season record. The Bulldogs also have the No. 63 duo of Martinez Serrano and Baroni who hold an 18-7 season record together.
