Track & Field Wins Eight Events to Close Out Final Day at Ole Miss Classic

The Ole Miss men's sprinters claimed three wins on Saturday, including a pair of impressive races in the the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays.
First in the men's 4x1, the Rebel quartet of junior Joseph Michel, freshman Jordan Urrutia, freshman Wesley Todd and freshman Tarique Wright took the victory at 39.71, the fastest race at Ole Miss since 2015 which ranks fifth in program history and third in the current NCAA rankings.

Todd turned out to be the hero in the 4x4 to close out the meet. The foursome of Urrutia, junior Cade Flatt, Todd and freshman Alec Reed won at 3:09.91, thanks in large part to Todd's blistering third-leg split of 46.36 to take the Rebels from third to first for Reed's anchor leg.

In the men's 100-meter dash, Michel led the way for the Rebel men with a first-place finish at 10.37 (+0.6), ranking him 14th in Ole Miss history and ninth nationally following his first 100-meter race with Ole Miss. Senior Iangelo Atkinstall-Daley followed in fourth with a career-best 10.67 (+0.6), while the freshmen Wright and Todd finished sixth (10.76/-0.1) and 11th (10.91/-1.1), respectively, in their first collegiate 100-meter races.

Atkinstall-Daley carried his success from the 100-meter dash into the men's triple jump, winning at 15.33m/50-03.50 (+0.8).
In the Henry Barbour men's 800-meter, the Rebel men dominated, owning all top-five finishes. Junior Jonathan Stock led the way, clocking an overall PR at 1:49.03 that currently ranks him fourth nationally. Fellow junior Landen McNair finished closely behind in second place at an overall career-best 1:49.63, and was followed closely by sophomore Connor Henson in third in his first collegiate 800 (1:49.92), sophomore Aidan Hodge in fourth (1:49.94; PR), and freshman Zack Gilbertson in fifth (1:50.28; PR).

In the women's 3K, freshman Ella Johnson took first in her outdoor debut with an overall career-best at 9:49.57. Fellow freshman Alycia Hart followed in second at 9:58.77 in her outdoor debut, while junior Samantha Ouellette finished fourth at an overall PR of 10:18.74 and freshman Brooke Preputnick took sixth 10:30.51 in her outdoor debut.

Sophomore transfer John Kendricks made his Ole Miss outdoor debut today in the men's pole vault, where he took first at 5.26m/17-3 – becoming only the eighth Rebel to clear 17 feet both indoors and outdoors. Today's victory currently slots him eighth in Ole Miss history outdoors and fourth in the current NCAA rankings.

In the Coach Price-Smith women's shot put, All-American sophomore Mensi Stiff took the crown with a heave of 16.80m/55-01.50 that ranks her tied for third in the current NCAA standings. Fellow sophomore Skylar Soli claimed third with an overall career-best 14.70m/48-02.75.
Stiff also led the way for the Rebel women in the discus with her second-place finish at 47.99m/157-5. Junior transfer Opal Jackson took fourth in her Ole Miss debut at 44.86m/147-2, and Soli claimed fifth at 44.29m/145-3.
Ole Miss now travels to LSU for the Battle on the Bayou next weekend on March 28-29.
