Men's Tennis Falls to Florida, 4-2

3/21/2025 | Men's Tennis

OXFORD, Miss - The Ole Miss Rebels welcomed the Florida Gators to the Palmer/Saloum Outdoor Tennis Center for a Friday afternoon matchup. After dropping the doubles point, the Rebels (11-7, 2-6 SEC) fought hard to mount the comeback over the Gators (10-7, 5-3 SEC) but ultimately fell, 5-2, despite securing two singles wins, and forcing a trio of three set matches.

Freshman Loan Lestir went to work on court four against Florida's No. 113 Henry Jefferson. Lestir stayed patient and secured a swift 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win over his opponent to put the Rebels on the board.

On court six, Matthieu Chambonniere captured a dominant straight set 6-3, 6-3, win over Florida's Ben Weintraub to add the Rebel's second point to the board on the day. This win marked the Paris, France, native's 20th singles win of his freshman campaign.

Noah Schlagenhauf displayed his veteran status against No. 65 Jeremy Jin on court one. Despite dropping the match 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-7 (4-7), the junior forced two tiebreaker sets in the second and third set, staying gritty throughout the match against his competitive opponent.

Ole Miss will be back in action on Sunday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. CT to square off against the No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center. The match against the Aggies was originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT, but had to be moved up due to weather concerns.
