Men’s Tennis Narrowly Drops Match at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss men's tennis fought hard against Auburn at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala., but ultimately fell, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon.
Loan Lestir led the Rebels (11-6, 2-5 SEC) after going undefeated on the day against the Tigers (13-6, 4-4 SEC). The freshman has now earned 12 singles and five doubles wins in his young career.
Starting off hot, the Rebels earned the doubles point behind two tiebreaker wins on courts one and three. Kai Milburn and Isac Strömberg notched their third win together on the season, defeating the 13th-ranked pair of Billy Blaydes and Will Nolan, 7-6 (7-5).
Lestir and Noah Schlagenhauf solidified the 1-0 advantage for the Rebels, taking the 7-6 (7-3) victory on court three.
In singles, Matthieu Chambonniere rolled to a straight set, 6-4, 6-4, win over Tiger Nicholas Heng. This victory marks the freshman's 19th on the season, which leads all Rebels.
Lestir completed his perfect day on the No. 4 singles court, earning a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over Auburn's Joey Phillips.
Ole Miss will return home for a three game homestand, starting with a matchup versus Florida Friday, March 21 at 4:00 p.m. CT at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
