Men’s Tennis Set for SEC Tests at No. 21 Tennessee and Auburn

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis is set to hit the road for a two-match road trip this week. The Rebels (11-4, 2-3 SEC) will first square off against No. 21 Tennessee (11-5, 2-3 SEC) on Thursday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m. CT at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville for a midweek matchup. Ole Miss will then turn around and head south to compete against Auburn (10-6, 2-4 SEC) on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. CT for a morning showdown.

THE REBELS 
Matthieu Chambonniere (Fr.) - Paris, Île-de-France
-Earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on March 5
-Holds a 18-5 overall record on the singles courts and has tallied 13 doubles wins on the season
-Defeated LSU's Brock Anderson, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the Rebels first SEC win of the 2025 season
-Named the Houndstooth Draw doubles champions at the SEC Challenge with doubles partner Benjamin Martin in the fall
 
Marcel Kamrowski (Jr.) - Gdańsk, Poland
-Junior transfer from Middle Tennessee State
-Defeated LSU's Alessio Vasquez 6-3, 6-4 to help the Rebel's defeat the Tigers and clinch their first SEC win of the season
-Went 2-0 in his Ole Miss debut against Tulane 
-Defeated Asaf Friedler and Vincent Vohl, 6-4, with partner Kai Milburn to tally his first doubles win as a Rebel
 
Loan Lestir (Fr.) - Lille, France
-Has tallied 11 singles wins this season
-Made his collegiate debut against Memphis and clinched the match point for Ole Miss after defeating Michael Kouame, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3
-Named SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 22
-Secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over Matic Kriznik from No. 21 Alabama to help the Rebels secure the upset
 
Benjamin Martin (Fr.) - Nort-sur-Erdre, France
-Has captured 10 singles wins in the 2024-25 season
-Named the Houndstooth Draw doubles champions at the SEC Challenge with partner Matthieu Chambonniere
-Clinched the match for Ole Miss against No. 21 Alabama after defeating Zach Foster, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2
-Was one of five Rebels to represent Ole Miss at the ITA Southern Regional in the fall  
 
Kai Milburn (Fr.) - Queenstown, New Zealand 
-Arrived to Oxford in January to compete with the Rebels in the spring
-Boasts a 5-1 record on the singles court 
-Defeated Asaf Friedler and Vincent Vohl 6-4 with partner Marcel Kamrowski to earn his first doubles win as a Rebel 
-Defeated North Alabama's Satoru Nakajima 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 to contribute to the Rebels' sweep over the Lions 
 
Noah Schlagenhauf (Jr.) - Nuertingen, Germany
-Holds a 16-10 record on the singles court in his junior season campaign 
-Has tallied eight doubles wins in the 2025 season
-Advanced to the qualifying round of the ITA-All Americans in the fall
-Defeated No. 84 Dimitris Paliouras, 6-4, 6-4, in win over Georgia Southern
 
Isac Strömberg (Jr.) - Stockholm, Sweden
-Defeated Adrian Contreras (EKU), 6-3, 6-1, to open the 2025 spring season
-Bested Alabama's No. 62 Andrii Zimnokh, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the fall season to earn his first ranked win of the 2024-25 season
-Undefeated on court two in dual singles matches, holding a 3-0 record
-Holds an 12-9 singles record in the spring campaign 
 
Gordon Whitwell (Jr.) - Oxford, Mississippi 
-Defeated Ryan Kitchin and Adrian Contreras (EKU) 6-2 with partner Isac Strömberg to open junior year spring season
-Secured his first singles win of the spring season over Eastern Kentucky's Darko Kolevski, 6-1, 6-4
-Has secured three wins on the doubles courts with partner Isac Strömberg
-Advanced to the doubles round of 16 at the ITA Southern Regional in the fall season
 
MOUNTED THE COMEBACK
The Ole Miss men's tennis team welcomed No.21 Alabama to the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis center last week for a midweek matchup, picking up a 4-3 victory. After dropping the doubles point, Ole Miss went to work in singles play and mounted a comeback over the Crimson Tide. 
 
Chambonniere, Lestir, and Stromberg each secured victories on their respective singles courts to tie things up against the Tide. It all came down to courts five and two. Ultimately, Benjamin Martin clinched the match for Ole Miss on court five over Alabama's student-athlete. Despite dropping his first set, Martin stayed competitive and earned a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 comeback to clinch the 4-3 victory over the No. 21 Crimson Tide. 
 
TEAM PROFILE: TENNESSEE 
The 2024-25 campaign marks Chris Woodruff's eighth season as head coach at Tennessee. The Volunteers are currently 11-5 overall on the season, and 2-3 in SEC play. Tennessee is led by No. 25 Shunsuke Mitsui on the singles courts. Mitsui holds a 26-6 singles record throughout the 2025 season. On the doubles courts, Alex Kotzen and Alejandro Moreno team up to make the No. 11 duo and boasts a 13-4 overall season record. 
 
TEAM PROFILE: AUBURN
Bobby Reynolds is in his ninth season as head coach for the Auburn Tigers and boasts an overall record of 106-111 throughout his tenure at Auburn. The 2024-25 Tigers are currently 10-6 (2-4 SEC). Auburn is led by Will Nolan who primarily plays on court one for the Tigers and holds an 11-8 season record. Nolan pairs up with his teammates Billy Blaydes on the doubles court to make the No. 13 doubles pair. The duo has a 22-5 overall doubles record during the 2024-25 campaign.
