Women’s Cross County Third, Men Seventh at Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Ole Miss women's cross country held their own in their first test against nationally ranked opponents, while the Rebel men posted a top-10 team finish at Missouri's Gans Creek Classic on Friday morning.
The No. 26 Rebel women finished third at 120 points behind No. 8 Stanford (44) and No. 9 Tennessee (92), while besting No. 6 Florida (132) by 12 points and charting a 549-point win over No. 13 Lipscomb in 23rd place at 669 points. The No. 28 Ole Miss men, meanwhile, took seventh in the team standings and were led by a strong individual performance from Toby Gillen in his season debut.
The women's race was led by All- SEC redshirt senior Loral Winn in her season debut, who finished fourth with her fifth sub-20-minute 6K of her career at 19:56.8. Finishing second for Ole Miss was Sophie Baumann, who took 18th place at 20:27.3 in her 2024 debut.
Other Rebel women running were Sarah Schiffmann in 26th (20:35.6), Beth Arentz in 32nd (20:45.0, PR), Hannah Ielfield in 43rd (20:57.9), Frances Luna in 46th (20:59.6, PR), Madison Hulsey in 49th (21:01.7, PR), Ainhoa Brea in 65th (21:19.2), Adie Luna in 76th (21:25.2, first collegiate 6K) and Jo-Lauren Keane in 119th (21:46.5, PR).
Also running in the Women's 6K open were Emilia Mikszuta in 10th place (21:32.7) and Alycia Hart in 11th place (21:34.8, first collegiate 6K).
The men's race was led by All-SEC junior Toby Gillen, who finished seventh with a 14-second PR of 23:13.7 in his season debut. Next best for the Rebels was Aiden Britt in 21st place with a PR of 15 seconds at 23:39.3.
Other Rebel men running were Elyas Ayyoub in 40th (23:58.8), Jack Meijer in 78th (24:27.2), Landen McNair in 101st (24:37.1, PR), Gabe Scales in 110th (24:41.4, PR), Aidan Hodge in 126th (24:45.8, first collegiate 8K), Chase Rose in 198th (25:26.1) and Benjamin Bayless in 247th (25:53.5).
Ole Miss has a three week break to prepare for a trip to Wisconsin on Sat., Oct. 19 for Pre-National Invitational.
