Ole Miss Faces Nationally-Ranked Test at Wisconsin’s Pre-Nationals

MADISON, Wis. – Ole Miss men's and women's cross country face its toughest meet of the 2024 season against dozens of nationally ranked opponents at Wisconsin's Pre-Nationals, which is set for the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday.
Ole Miss will face a total of 36 ranked opponents in competition on Saturday morning, with the women facing 19 ranked teams and the men facing 18. The No. 22 Rebel women will be included in those ranked teams in the "A" 6K race.
The No. 22 Ole Miss women are looking for a strong team finish after a great team effort at Missouri, where the Rebels earned two ranked wins against No. 6 Florida and No. 13 Lipscomb. Leading the charge is redshirt senior Loral Winn, who finished in fourth place with her fifth sub-20 6K of her career at 19:56.8. She was followed by junior Sophie Baumann, who finished 18th in her season debut at 20:27.3 to contribute to the women's third-place team finish.
Also running this weekend for the Rebel women are redshirt junior Beth Arentz, redshirt senior Ainhoa Brea, redshirt senior Madison Hulsey, senior Hannah Ielfield, junior Frances Luna and junior Sarah Schiffmann.
The Ole Miss men are led by junior Toby Gillen, who finished sixth at Missouri with a PR of 23:13.7 in the 8K. He was followed by senior Aiden Britt, who finished 21st with a PR of 23:39.3. Redshirt senior Jack Meijer returns to Wisconsin for his second time since transferring to Ole Miss in 2023 and will look to contribute to a solid team finish.
Other Rebel men running at Wisconsin are senior Elyas Ayyoub, senior Benjamin Bayless, redshirt freshman Aidan Hodge, redshirt junior Gabe Scales and junior Evan Thornton-Sherman.
Competition will begin at 10 a.m. CT with the women's "A" 6K, followed the men's "A" 8K at 10:40 a.m. CT. Fans can watch the action live on RunnerSpace.com.
