Cross Country Closes Regular Season at Stacked Pre-National Invitational

MADISON, Wis. – Ole Miss men's and women's cross country finished with a pair of strong individual performances to conclude the regular season Saturday morning at Wisconsin's Pre-National Invitational.
The Ole Miss men finished in 25th place in the "A" 8K race with 613 points, finishing 18 points behind No. 13 Washington (24th, 595) and earning ranked wins over No. 29 Texas (27th, 688), No. 27 Florida State (31st, 763) and No. 28 Air Force (32nd, 765). Meanwhile, the Rebel women finished 33rd in the "A" 6K and were led by a solid individual performance from Loral Winn. Combined across both races, Ole Miss ran among 39 nationally ranked teams – 19 in the men's race, 20 in the women's.
The men's race was led by All-SEC junior Toby Gillen, who finished in 35th place at 23:23.4 in the 8K. Gillen has now been the top finisher for the Rebel men in both of his outings this season, joining a sixth-place finish at Missouri's Gans Creek Classic last month.
Following Gillen were senior Aiden Britt (104th, 23:56.5), junior Evan Thornton-Sherman (133rd, 24:11.0, PR), redshirt senior Jack Meijer (170th, 24:26.5), senior Benjamin Bayless (186th, 24:32.2), freshman Aidan Hodge (227th, 25:19.4), senior Elyas Ayyoub (241st, 26:38.8) and redshirt junior Gabe Scales (242nd, 26:49.1).
The women's race was led by All-SEC redshirt senior Loral Winn, who finished in 69th place at 20:24.2 in the 6K race.
Other women running Saturday were junior Sarah Schiffmann (155th, 21:02.2), redshirt senior Ainhoa Brea (182nd, 21:13.0 PR), junior Sophie Baumann (195th, 21:20.8), redshirt junior Beth Arentz (208th, 21:33.1), redshirt senior Madison Hulsey (229th, 21:50.4), senior Hannah Ielfield (233rd, 21:54.8) and junior Frances Luna (239th, 22:11.9).
As the regular season comes to a close, the Rebels will take the next week off in preparation for the 2024 SEC Cross Country Championships, which will be hosted by Texas A&M on Fri., Nov. 1.
