Cross Country Hits the Road for Early Test at Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Ole Miss men's and women's cross country will travel to Missouri for an early morning pair of races at the Gans Creek Classic Course, hosted by Missouri on Friday.
The Rebels had a three-week break after their sweep at the Memphis Twilight on Aug. 31, where both Ole Miss teams dominated. Those performances elevated both Rebel teams in the national rankings, with the men at No. 28 and the women at No. 26 heading into this week.
The No. 26 Ole Miss women face a deep slate in the Division I 6K race on Friday morning as they will compete alongside four ranked opponents including No. 6 Florida, No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 Tennessee and No. 13 Lipscomb.
The Ole Miss women bested their second-place opponent by 39 points and finished with five runners in the top-10 of the 5K at the Memphis Twilight. The Rebels were led by Sarah Schiffmann, who won the individual crown at 17:37.64, and was immediately followed by Beth Arentz in second overall at 17:37.72.
Making their Ole Miss debut are freshman Alycia Hart and Cal Baptist transfer Emilia Mikszuta in the Women's Collegiate Open 6K, as well as two-time All-SEC runner Loral Winn for the Rebel women in the Division I race.
Other Rebel women running this week are LIU transfer Ainhoa Brea, junior Sophie Baumann, redshirt senior Madison Hulsey, senior Hannah Ielfield, redshirt senior Jo-Lauren Keane, sophomore Adie Luna and junior Frances Luna.
The No. 28 Ole Miss men also face challenges in the Division I 8K race as they compete alongside No. 10 Stanford.
Ole Miss outscored their nearest opponent by 11 to claim first overall at the Memphis Twilight. Top finishers from Memphis also running in the meet Friday are redshirt freshman Aidan Hodge, who finished seventh at 20:18.87, followed by redshirt sophomore Landen McNair in eighth at 20:20.47.
Making their Ole Miss debut in the Men's Division I 8K are senior LIU transfer Elyas Ayyoub and senior Miami (Ohio) transfer Benjamin Bayless.
Other Rebel men running at Missouri are senior Aiden Britt, junior Toby Gillen, redshirt senior Jack Meijer, senior Chase Rose, and redshirt junior Gabe Scales.
Competition begins with the men's 8K race at 8 a.m. CT, followed by women's 6K race at 8:45 a.m. CT.
