About the Course
Cherokee Country Club will be a challenging opening course for the Rebels, presenting tricky, undulating greens and tight fairways. A finesse course in many aspects, Cherokee C.C. features six par 3s. As much as ever, Sunday's practice round will be key.
"The practice round is great because you can get your yardage books and map out the greens and just really hit some different shots," said head coach Kory Henkes. "I think that's the key to any good round, is the practice round, so you know where to go and where not to go. You do everything in practice so you can perform to the best of your ability."

Rebel Spotlight
Junior Katy Harris will make her Ole Miss debut after joining the squad from Mercer University last spring. Harris topped the Rebels' practice and qualifying charts, and Henkes is excited to see what she can do in her first competition.
"Katy actually finished first overall in qualifying. She had a great career at Mercer when she was there so we're excited to get her going," Henkes said. "We knew it was just a matter of time for her to get warmed up. She's pretty pumped. She was very steady all week."
A Fresh Face
True freshman Pi-Lillebi Hermansson will make her collegiate debut in Knoxville. The Djursholm, Sweden native had a stellar summer abroad and has a bright future with the Rebels.
"Pi had an excellent summer," Henkes said. "She finished in the Top 10 British girls in the Annika. She won the Swedish stroke play championship, so she's going to be a huge addition for our lineup as well."
Kory Henkes Quoted
On where the team is at going into the season opener:
"We've had some great success in our first qualifiers. We played nine rounds at few different courses and a few girls shot their all-time lows, so that was nice to see some records like that. Overall we're really excited about what we see and how well-prepared the girls are coming off their summer. Just can't wait to get into competition mode this weekend."
On the busy schedule with two tournaments, separated by just 10 days:
"Our tournaments are back-to-back, so it's going to be a fun test. The two courses are completely the opposite. Furman is a lot like the Ole Miss Golf Course. It'll be good experience for the girls, especially with the young team that we have. We have one senior in the lineup and the rest are underclassmen, so I think that is exciting for the future of Ole Miss women's golf as well."
