Rebels Post Aggregate School Record

JACKSONVILLE, Ala.-The Ole Miss rifle team traveled to Jacksonville, Alabama for its second road match of the season to face Jacksonville State University.
Ole Miss finished one point behind Jacksonville State, but posted a new aggregate school record of 4655.The Rebels defeated the Gamecocks in air rifle 2342 to their 2341, but fell short in smallbore.
RECAPPING THE MATCH VS. JSU
Ole Miss collectively shot 2342 in air rifle, which contributed to the Rebels' record-setting aggregate score. Senior Alison Weisz, holder of the top air rifle scores in school history, tied her second-best score with 595 to lead the Rebels this weekend. Weisz also posted a career-high aggregate score with 1180. Freshman Jillian Tyler posted a personal-best for the fourth week in a row with 590, six points above her previous career-high.
Ole Miss collectively shot 2313 in smallbore, their highest score of the season and third best in program history. Sophomore Harley Gardner led the Rebels in smallbore for the second week in a row, 586 score. Gardner fired two personal-bests-199 in prone and 195 in standing-to capture a new career-high for smallbore. Weisz was just one point behind Gardner at 585 in smallbore. Sophomore Freshman Hayley Carroll also put together an impressive performance in smallbore, shooting 17 centers for a perfect 200 in prone.

"I'm excited we broke the school record for smallbore and air rifle combined, since that is the single score that determines team placement and ranking. We still have work to do and need to get our scores higher, but we're making progress and some of the pieces are coming together."
UP NEXT
The Rebels will enjoy an off weekend at home before they travel to West Point, New York on Nov. 11 where they will face both No. 1 West Virginia and No. 16 Army.
